Primary Purpose:
To support a well-organized library media center that will support learning and instruction in a technologically rich environment; and, to support district and division business and record-keeping practices.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
High School diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Experience working in a library media environment preferred
Experience working software applications (EXCEL, Google Docs, Word, Outlook, etc.)
Knowledge of TEAMS / of IIQ (Incident IQ)
Knowledge of bibliographic format, preferred
Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Basic understanding of library rules / standards - RDA, MARC and the Dewey Decimal System.
  2. Use the Internet to access and import MARC records from bibliographic data base sites.
  3. Maintain accurate MARC records in system.
  4. Master the current library management system modules.
  5. Follow established procedures for receiving and unpacking campus orders from vendors.
  6. Follow established business office procedures.
  7. Perform the appropriate level of processing required for each order so that all materials are shelf-ready when received by the campus or district department.
  8. Packing, lifting, and stacking of boxes onto pallets in loading dock for distribution to campuses.
  9. Maintain accurate record of all shipments (i.e. number of boxes, number of materials enclosed, the receiving campus, date of pick-up and name of person picking up the shipment).
  10. Comparing Vendor's packing list with Librarian's order list; property stamp library materials, creating or retrieving MARC records; attaching item bar codes; and spine labels.
  11. Receiving / releasing of funds in TEAMS for accounts payable (A/P); notify A/P of funds to be released; enter fiduciary amount in Library purchase order spreadsheet tracking; and, enter data in appropriate barcode spreadsheet tracking.
  12. Process / copy all library materials received by Librarians for all campuses, cover with Mylar jackets and re-send to appropriate librarian / school library.
  13. Repair library books utilizing official KAPCO repair products and / or re-binding with the Cover-Bind book machine.
  14. Act as liaison from staff, vendors, and, accounts payable / receivable to technical services.
  15. Participate in inventorying process of library materials.
  16. Assist Library Media Specialist with weeding, packing, or shifting library materials.
  17. Assist with packing-up libraries slated for renovations.
  18. Assist with setting-up libraries after library renovations completed.
  19. Navigate vendor websites to assist library in ordering process.
  20. Maintain, process, receive Purchase Orders (P.O.'s).
  21. Receiving, packing and shipping of Instructional Materials to campuses.
  22. Assist with entering / maintaining Instructional Material in Library system.
  23. Assist with gathering / dispersal of technology to students / staff using Incident IQ.

EQUIPMENT USED:
Computers / laptops, Cover-bind book machine, high capacity ZEBRA Barcode label printer, bar code reader / scanner, Desk-top label writer / printer; calculator, network drives, and knowledge / use of pallet jack.
