Currently, we are looking for a full-time, entry-level Staff Acountant to join our Accounting team. The successful applicant will perform a wide range of accounting tasks assisting, or supporting the company’s general accounting functions, grants, audits, payroll, tax returns, and financial statement reconciliations. Under the direction of our Accountant and Business Manager, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Maintain integrity of financial information
- Assist in providing financial information for a variety of management purposes via internal reporting
- Assist in data collection and workpaper preparation for annual audit
- Support monthly accounting process entering data into QuickBooks Desktop
- Assist in the compilation of data for grant requests and grant reporting
- Reconcile financial accounts including incoming and outgoing funds, prepaid and accrual accounts
- Assist in preparation of monthly job costing reports and financial statements
- Support preparation of monthly and annual Sales Tax Returns
- Assist in bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly payroll processing
Our Staff Accountant will have the following qualifications:
- Strong commitment to the mission of Lakeshore Habitat
- High School Diploma required; Advanced accounting degree/education a bonus
- Minimum of 1-year prior accounting experience, demonstrating growth and advancement
- Minimum of 1-year experience with QuickBooks Desktop accounting software
- Demonstrated understanding of GAAP, including accrual accounting methods, general journal entries, handling of assets and recording of expenses
- Strong Microsoft Office knowledge and skills
- Database experience and familiarity with POS computer systems
- Positive approach and enjoy working as part of a team
- Solid organizational skills, detail-oriented, and desire to learn
