The Director of Operational Excellence in the Hospitality Services Department oversees six departments supporting Stanford Health Care: Environmental Services, Facilities Management, Food Services, Patient Transport & Equipment Management, and Operational Excellence.

The Operational Excellence Team supports operational leaders through key programs and continuous improvement via data-driven, value-based management. The Director of Operational Excellence leads a diverse team overseeing programs and projects across Business Operations, Quality and Compliance, and Talent Acquisition. What You Will Do

  • Sets vision for and leads department priorities.
  • Partners with Executive Director/Administrative Director in short and long-range planning activities that align with the SHC operational plan, incorporate innovation and new technologies, and promote the individual needs of each business unit.
  • Acts in an advisory role to all departments, programs, staff, and leaders.
  • Maintains a Master Program Schedule (FACI) and regularly reports on progress to all Senior leaders.
  • Develops an Annual Report.
  • Leads recruiting, onboarding, and hosting of events ensuring adequate staffing levels to support daily operations.
  • Leads Quality and Compliance programs ensuring safe, best-in-class care for patients, staff, and visitors as applicable.
  • Oversees contract administration needs including initiation, vendor performance, and financial oversight.
  • Partners with Business Operations and Strategic Initiatives (“BOSI”) & leadership to prepare budgets, monitor FTE variances, track financial outcomes, and make recommendations.
  • Implements, oversees, and continuously improves systems, processes, and standard work to drive the successful management of operations.
  • Facilitates effective communication across the enterprise. Builds, develops, and grows business relationships with stakeholders and vendors.
  • Supports professional growth of direct reports through identification of learning needs, designing developmental plans, and facilitating learning opportunities.
  • Coaches, mentors, and motivates direct reports in order to meet business unit program goals.

Education Qualifications

  • Job requires a Bachelor’s degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university. Relevant experience in lieu of degree may be considered. Relevant experience in lieu of degree is in addition to the experience requirements for this position. Required
  • Master's Degree Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • Six+ (6+) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience Required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of project management methodologies to lead project teams; write in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Understands extremely complex verbal or written instructions.
  • Must be well organized and systematic in work processes, possess excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities while managing aggressive deadlines.
  • Ability to delegate assignments and share decision-making with team members as appropriate.
  • Must have strong leadership skills and be able to lead project teams, exercising strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate efficient and cost-effective methods for construction, repair and/or maintenance projects as applicable.
  • Ability to establish the strategic direction and business plans for a functional group.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and resources (people, costs, time).
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage building operational services; develop, implement and evaluate a variety of building and operation systems and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ability to research regulations, procedures or technical reference materials relating to building maintenance.
  • Ability to strategize, plan and implement change.
  • Ability to work effectively both as a team player and leader.
  • Knowledge of business practices to prepare bid specifications, negotiate agreements and administer contracts.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and principles used in the maintenance of hospital, clinic, and office building installations and systems.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management.
  • Knowledge of project management processes and systems.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $74.66 - $98.94 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
