Description

As a Systems and Network Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining the hardware and software of our hybrid IT infrastructure. You will work closely with external service providers to complete projects on time and within budget. You will also ensure that our system standards are followed and documented throughout the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware, such as Windows and Mac devices, networking equipment, storage devices, audio/video conferencing systems, video surveillance systems, and VoIP phone systems.
  • Install, configure, and maintain software, such as server operating systems, Linux administration, identity and SSO provider, virtualization, remote access, email, SAN, backup and data management, protection, monitoring, MDM, and web servers.
  • Provide strategic planning for network security and maintain security of external websites.
  • Manage server backups and restores, mobile device management and security, AD users and groups, physical servers and server room environment (minimal), cloud compute environments, and cloud disaster recovery.
  • Maintain support and architecture documentation and serve as tier 2 support for help desk technicians and direct support, when necessary.
  • Help manage IT initiatives and provide 24/7 on-call support to Director.
  • Travel to various Annenberg Foundation locations, primarily in Los Angeles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Will work with the IT Director to mentor junior IT helpdesk staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of Windows server, AD, DNS, WINS, WSUS, cloud compute environments, Microsoft office suite, Office 365, Exchange 365.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in IS or IT-related field of study.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in system and network maintenance.
  • Possess or working toward networking certification such as CCNA.
  • Equivalent blend of education and experience is acceptable.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to work on multiple concurrent tasks with constant interruptions, read and interpret documents and information, use oral communication skills, and interact with Foundation staff, the general public, and others encountered in the course of work, some of whom may be dissatisfied, demanding, and/or angry individuals.
