The Mechanic performs a variety of skilled mechanical duties involving deck machinery, engine room work, general dock, rudders, shafting, propeller work, and testing. The Mechanic will have general knowledge of equipment operation for assembly, installation and testing that may include; records work performed and follows specified safety policies and procedures.As an Outside Machinist, you will:Perform a variety of skilled mechanical duties involving deck machinery, engine room work, general dock, rudders, shafting, propeller work, and testing.Use knowledge of equipment operation for assembly, installation and testing.Perform valve and pump repair and overhaul.Repair ship components using blueprints, sketches and sample parts.Work with rudders, shafts, propellers and deck machinery.Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery.In addition, the selected candidate if hired will be eligible to receive a $1000.00 sign-on bonus within 60 days of hire.Required Education, Experience, & SkillsRequired Education, Experience and SkillsHigh School Diploma or GEDRead, write and comprehend simple instructionsApply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram formAble to calculate and understand units of measure, including fractions and decimalsKnow how to measure using a scale and tape measureRead, understand, and interpret advanced blueprints to preform task requiredUse of measuring devices(rulers, micrometers, dial indicators, depth mics, scales, etc.), hand tools, and power toolsAbility to read and interpret blueprintsTrained in all annual NAVSEA Standard ItemsMust be able to obtain and maintain DefenseBiometric Identification System "DBIDS" access card.Preferred Education, Experience, & SkillsPreferred Education, Experience and Skills8-10 years related experience for Step 4, 6-7 years for Step 3, 2-5 years related experience for Step 2Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $35048 - $62400Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures.
