Red River is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to join our growing team! The Senior Accounting Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Receivable team to ensure team employees are working efficiently towards team goals. The manager will be responsible for ensuring all billing is completed accurately and timely as well as drive the acceleration of collections so that aged receivables are kept to a minimum. The manager will be responsible for mentoring and developing the team’s skill set, assist the team with problem solving, and develop and maintain efficient SOPs for each process within the AR function.
Primary Position Tasks:
- Supervise, motivate, and mentor the AR Team
- Manage the daily cash forecast for the incoming AR collections and send out expected collections based on AR team feedback and prepare daily executive watch list for executive leadership team
- Ensure team is following all SOPs and policies, including but not limited to reviewing all documentation supporting a sales order, reviewing sales contracts and customer POs, verifying tracking information, verifying correct charges for sales tax, freight, or other misc. charges
- Develop new SOPs for added billing processes as the business continues to grow and lines of business evolve and ensure they are in place and functioning as written
- Identify, Develop, Document, Implement, and Manage areas of process improvement
- Manage internal controls and procedures to ensure effectiveness and compliance in conjunction with the Company’s overall strategy.
- Own and improve the RMA process to ensure the subledgers accurately reflect valid and open receivables.
- Monitor the performance of the AR team, including reviewing various metrics of performance to continue to drive improvements within the team.
- Ensure the team adheres to the published monthly close schedule.
- Follow-up with sales and/or associates for timely invoicing
- Run various reports to provide to Senior Leadership related to billing details, A/R Aging, and notes around collection efforts
- Monitor aged customer credits
- Lead the year end audit related to the Accounts Receivable processes and manage the information requests from the auditors for sales invoices, supporting documentation, etc.
- Maintain relations with customers and solve pay issues
- Follow-up on receiving reports and invoice issues
- Review Month End reconciliation reports and journal entries
- Process complicated invoicing situations as needed
- Other business duties assigned
Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:
- 10-15 years’ relative experience in Gov’t Billing and collections, including Sales & Use Tax and a deep understanding of the end-to-end AR process
- 10+ years' experience in managing a large team, preferably in AR/Collections, including supervising, mentoring, and motivating a team
- Prior business reengineering experience, preferably 5+ years in the accounting arena
Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:
- Working knowledge of all aspects of Navision related to AR
- Working knowledge of Deltek Costpoint
- Excellent knowledge of: Microsoft Outlook / Office (Excel, Word)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong leadership skills and ability to manage and mentor a team
- The understanding, knowledge and the reading of customer contracts for invoice processing and payment collection
- The understanding and knowledge of customer related websites for invoice submissions
- Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and maintain accuracy under a heavy workload
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work well on a team
Essential Elements:
Ability to attend work for all regularly scheduled hours. Ability to work extended hours as necessary, particularly during “busy season” – September 1st extending into December. It is anticipated the Accounts Receivable Sr Manager will follow a timely process of helping to collect outstanding payments owed to Red River. This is important in providing the high quality of customer service expected from this position.
This position is an office position that requires remaining in a stationary position for multiple hours throughout the work day.
This position requires the ability to continuously communicate with co-workers throughout the day utilizing Red River approved and/or provided communication tools and equipment.
Special Requirements:
Ability to travel to New Hampshire office for training.
