The Vice President, Finance and Operations, will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial and operations teams, working closely with the CEO and leadership team to ensure the financial health of the business, optimize operational efficiency, and support strategic decision-making. This role reports to the CEO and requires a hands-on approach, strong analytical skills, and the ability to lead and inspire a small, high performing team.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support growth and profitability goals.
- Oversee the budgeting, forecasting and financial close processes.
- Manage cash flow, financial reporting, and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Analyze financial performance, identify areas for improvement, and recommend actions.
- Lead the preparation of financial statements for board presentations.
Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable:
- Oversee the management of accounts receivable, ensuring timely invoicing and collections.
- Monitor accounts payable to ensure all vendor payments are made accurately and on time.
- Reconcile discrepancies in billing and payments, working closely with customers and vendors to resolve issues.
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions and manage aging reports to minimize overdue accounts.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Identify and manage financial and operational risks, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Oversee internal controls and audit processes to safeguard company assets and integrity.
Operational Oversight:
- Oversee inventory control and logistics.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators to track operational performance and drive continuous improvement.
Office Management:
- Oversee the Office Manager, who takes care of the day-to-day operations of the office and ensures a productive and well-organized work environment.
- Collaborates with the Office Manager on creating and staying within budgets, which includes (but is not limited to) budgets for office supplies, events, office improvements, and IT needs.
- Partners with Office Manager on onboarding new employees.
Benefits and HR Administration:
- Manage all employee benefits programs, including health insurance and retirement plans.
- Ensure compliance with all HR regulations and maintain accurate employee records.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance and operations team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Work closely with the CEO and other department heads to align financial and operational strategies with overall business goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CPA is preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in finance and operations management, preferably within the fashion or retail industry.
- Proven track record of driving financial performance and operational efficiency in a small to mid-sized company.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to influence and inspire others.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of supply chain management, inventory control, and logistics.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Salary range: $ 200 - 250K based on experience and qualifications.
