POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Technology Management at University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) invites applications for an Assistant (tenure track) or Associate (with tenure) Teaching Professor position starting July 1, 2025 or later. In the UC System, Teaching Professor is an Academic Senate, tenure track position. Teaching Professors are evaluated primarily for teaching excellence and curriculum development, with expectations for service and professional activity. The normal course load expected for Teaching Professors is two courses per quarter (six courses a year) at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
We seek applicants who are interested in teaching-focused careers. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience creating and teaching courses focused on the development, commercialization, and implementation of new technology, including, for example: Technology Strategy, Technology Entrepreneurship, Managing Innovation, Digital Transformation, Digital Marketing, and Data Analytics. Successful applicants will contribute to the exciting intellectual environment within the Department of Technology Management and contribute meaningfully to its strategic initiatives and programmatic activities.
The selected candidate is expected to play a key role in the growth of the department and to participate in departmental service appropriate for their rank. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position.
The posted UC system-wide salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. A reasonable estimated full-time rate for this position at 100% time is $150,000 - $220,000. “Off-scale salaries”, i.e. a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
- Applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD (or equivalent) except the dissertation in a related field at the time of application.
- Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
- Applicants must have a PhD degree in a relevant area by the time of appointment.
- Preferred qualifications
- Expertise in technological innovation and entrepreneurship, or a related area.
- A demonstrated record of, or strong potential for, outstanding teaching.
- Taught at least one course as instructor of record or demonstrated equivalent teaching responsibilities.
- Contributions to DEI as part of their teaching, service, or scholarly activity.
- Professional and/or scholarly activity related to Technology Management and/or scholarship relating to instruction or pedagogy.
- Experience with online and hybrid instruction.
