**Job Title:** Registered Nurse
**Job Specialty:** Pediatrics, Float Pool
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 12-hour night shifts, 3 shifts per week
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; CV step-down experience is requested.
**License:** Current RN License or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC)
**Certifications:** Current Basic Life Support and PALS (American Heart Association)
**Must-Have:** Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program; good verbal and written communication skills; ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors; some computer skills
**Job Description:**
- Provide nursing care in a hospital setting to patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders for assigned patients.
- Assist physicians in the examination of patients and perform minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary.
- Administer prescribed medications, initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver patient care competently.
- Interact with patients and families to share care plans during hospital stays and discharge.
- Inform patients and families of hospital procedures.
- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegate tasks to support staff.
- Float to all acute care units, including Pediatric Medical Unit, Pediatric Surgical Unit, Pediatric Medical Specialty, and occasionally Pediatric Hem/Onc unit.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Preferred Education:** Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher-level degree from a board-approved program.
