Summary
This position serves as the administrative support for the Student Success Office of the Schmidthorst College of Business Administration. It plays a crucial role in managing the flow of student, faculty, and operational issues related to student success initiatives, ensuring efficient and effective resolution. This position requires exceptional problem-solving skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and a strong commitment to supporting the academic and administrative functions of the institution. They act as the first point of contact for student success related inquiries and concerns, providing a calm and organized approach to address and resolve issues promptly. This role is essential to maintaining a supportive and efficient environment within the Schmidthorst Student Success Office, ensuring that the needs of students, faculty, and staff are met promptly and effectively.
Essential Functions
  • Serves as liaison for the staff of the student success office, both undergraduate and graduate focused, with the administrative and academic community of the University. Works closely with staff from other University offices including Provost's Office, BGSU Student Success offices, other College Dean's offices, student support services offices, etc. to prioritize and triage student inquiries and concerns, and prepare College reports.
  • Serves as the primary contact for students, faculty, and staff seeking assistance from the College. Discreetly screens and handles confidential and sensitive phone calls for staff in the Student Success Office. Prioritizes cases based on urgency and provides appropriate handovers to members of the Student Success office or escalates as appropriate to the senior leadership team (including the Dean), department chairs, or other campus partners to resolve the concern. Maintains open and effective communication channels with all stakeholders. Respects confidential nature of all written and oral interactions.
  • Supports the processing of internal transfer student applications, grade appeals, late graduation applications, and other student success related processes by relieving the administrators of the routine applications and working in collaboration with the Associate Dean and Student Success Coordinator on complex cases.
  • Coordinates and supports the College's associate dean and student achievement committee with the allocation, distribution, and management of the scholarships at the College level and supports the integration and optimization of allocations across the College and department awards. Reviews allocations each fall to ensure maximum utilization of the scholarship budget and alignments to fund restrictions.
  • Works with the Associate Dean and University Advancement to ensure students support our recognition of philanthropy efforts through thank you note card correspondences and the organization of the annual student achievement, honors, and awards celebration event.
  • Coordinates essential student success events in the Schmidthorst College of Business including Dean's list recognition on the Ticker displays, recognition of student organization events on digital media in the college, etc. as well as first line trouble shooting of associated technologies.
  • Provides records management for the College files related to student engagement and success in physical and electronic formats. This includes maintaining and improving Schmidthorst College of Business student record documentation, event attendance, company engagement summaries, and scholarship recipient reports.
  • Coordinates other projects as requested by the Associate Dean and Dean.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience
  • One to two years related experience required; must include progressive administrative experience.
Education
  • High school diploma or GED required
