Job Requirements / Description

We are looking for someone with exceptional user empathy – the ability to understand user context, their articulated and unarticulated needs - and with the technical skills and experience to imagine, build and drive the adoption of practical solutions that drive effectiveness and business results, and delight users.

The primary focus of this role is on data solutions, so the ability to distill actionable insight from data, to develop useful visualizations, and to build in processes and accountability that drive data quality and governance is foundational to success in the role.

Finally, our mission is urgent and planet scale. We are looking for a highly productive and disciplined candidate, who thrives in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of change, who can grow with us as our business scales and evolves into new sectors, technologies and operating models in service of our mission.

What you will be doing at Generate Capital as a Product Manager:

  1. Develop product roadmaps that distill critical business challenges into data and/or technology driven solutions; product areas will span investments, capital markets and asset management.
  2. Ensure there is clear alignment on deliverables between business stakeholders and members of the Data & Technology team. Serve as the driving force behind development efforts; accelerate change where possible, and unblock others where needed.
  3. Analyze data to distill actionable insights, and deliver these insights through data visualization and analytics.
  4. Drive forward adoption of business tools & systems, and continually evolve them to meet changing business needs.
  5. Write user stories to translate critical business needs into technical requirements. Work with engineering, architecture and infrastructure teams to drive development, testing and deployment of solutions.
  6. Define and implement product management best-practices.

Candidate qualifications & core characteristics:

  1. A demonstrated passion for, or commitment to, our mission.
  2. 5+ years’ experience in a product management role with a demonstrated proficiency in translating ambiguous business problems into concrete solutions. Experience implementing data and analytics solutions is a plus.
  3. Data science and advanced analytics experience, particularly in an investment and portfolio construction context.
  4. Demonstrated technical proficiency (R, Python, SQL, interacting with relational databases), and fluency with business intelligence tools including Anaplan, PowerBI, Tableau. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of agile development best practices.
  5. Comfort with ambiguity and change, and the ability to lead others through it.
  6. High level of self-awareness and humility, with excitement about confronting uncomfortable situations or new challenges.
  7. Intellectual agility and curiosity, superb analytical skills; problem-solving is your default mode.
  8. Unimpeachable integrity and glowing references.
  9. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including empathy, intuition, and listening as well as strong writing, editing, and basic design skills.
  10. Entrepreneurial spirit: flexibility, comfort with risk, recognition that “perfect can be the enemy of the good.”
