About the role
The Production Team is expanding in response to increased production quantities and product complexity. DroneShield is looking to recruit a Production Technician who will assemble and test DroneShield products. This role would work on established products as well as work with the Tech Team on the testing and development of products in various stages of R+D. The candidate will need a wholistic understanding of the technology at hand and experience with electronics and RF is preferred. This role will involve hand soldering and experience in soldering cables and PCBAs is required.
The position will report primarily to the Operations Manager and will work closely with other members of the Operations Team. This role will suit someone with excellent attention to detail and a passion for technology who wants to develop their career in a fast-moving ASX listed defence technology company.
Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations

  • Assemble DroneShield products and closely follow build documentation
  • Test DroneShield products using a variety of test equipment such as VNAs and spectrum analysers
  • Fill out travellers and QC records during assembly
  • Soldering of PCBA components during production or for R+D
  • Assembly of cables
  • Troubleshoot problems with electronics and clearly communicate issues to others within the business
  • Design test jigs for DroneShield products to improve assembly efficiency
  • Assist the Tech Team with anechoic chamber testing
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
  • Experience in electronics assembly
  • Experience with RF equipment and testing preferred
  • Degree in Engineering or relevant certification as a technician (IPC certified or trained)
  • SMT soldering experience
  • Ability to follow complex assembly and testing instructions
  • Passionate about technology
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a fast-paced team
  • Respect and appreciation of process, doing the right thing even if no-one is watching
  • Strong ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and handle pressure
  • Clear communication (both verbal and written) with team members
  • "Can do" attitude and willingness to help in variety of tasks, including occasional tasks unrelated to the core role
  • Suitable to hold a security clearance if required
