Our national multi-family management company seeks an experienced HR Business Partner with a "Whatever it Takes" attitude, and a strong Human Resources background located in the Houston, TX market.


JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resources Business Partner is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management and will provide day-to-day support in administering human resources policies and programs.


REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources


SUPERVISES: No One


TRAINING/CERTIFICATES/ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIPS

  • SHRM-CP or PHR is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SPECIFIC AND ABILITIES

  • A minimum of five years of human resources experience as an HR Generalist or an HR Business Partner.
  • Experience in HR roles with a focus on talent management, project management, and/or strategic HR activities.
  • Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing and can understand departmental operations and procedures.
  • Strong conflict management, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
  • Substantial and demonstrable knowledge of Wage & Hour, FLSA, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act
  • Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint) to complete required reports and employment documents.
  • Multi-state experience is preferred.
  • Benefits administration and HRIS experience.
  • Ability to work as a self-directed individual taking initiative to identify and address business needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, solve complex problems, and drive results.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and provide excellent customer service.
  • Proficiency in using property management software(s) used by the Company, as well as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point).

  1. Manage and resolve employee grievances and complex employee relations issues.
  2. Provide guidance regarding disciplinary action up to and including termination.
  3. Supports organization in all aspects of unemployment and EEOC claims, and any other employment related matters.
  4. Consult on situations involving reasonable suspicion (drug or alcohol use).
  5. Respond to HR related inquiries regarding company policies and procedures.
  6. Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting Human Resources and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are complying.
  7. Provide guidance and information to managers and employees in all areas related to company policies and procedures.
  8. Ensure workplace issues are managed effectively and expediently to remove barriers to successful job performance and foster a positive work environment.
  9. Assist with onboarding activities to foster positive attitudes toward company mission and vision.
  10. Serve as primary backup for benefits including, handling leaves of absence, insurance billing, worker’s compensation claims, open enrollment, and qualifying events.
  11. Act with integrity, professionalism, and the highest level of confidentiality.
  12. Conduct data collection activities: generate and provide basic analysis to reports; and assist client groups with improvements to respective HR metrics.
  13. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies.
  14. Other duties as assigned.
