Summary
Perdue Farms is looking for a strong Operations Accounting Manager to join our Bridgewater, VA team. This position manages all accounting and reporting functions for the plant, ensuring adequate controls to protect company assets and operational effectiveness. Ensures relevant, timely, and accurate reporting of complex operations and effective support of operations and financial management. Manages the accounting team which has the responsibility for the planning, reporting and financial decision support of the facility/plant.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Maintains an effective system of internal controls, ensuring compliance with Corporate and generally accepted standards of accounting and reporting.
Directs the processes of recording, reviewing, and reporting the plant’s performance, with a focus on continuous improvement in terms of accuracy, timeliness, relevance, and cost. Effectively utilizes information processing technology and staff to deliver information to management in an efficient and effective manner.
Assists plant management in managing capital expenditures to optimize economic performance, product quality, and associate safety. Effectively manages the plant’s CER process. Oversees inventory and overall asset management.
Manages the accounting staff and ensures effective utilization of human resources. Ensures effective training, development, coaching, of the accounting team members. Ensures effective and continuous staffing via local and regional recruitment in cooperation with corporate finance/accounting management.
Serves as the coordinator/director of the operations' cost/financial issues on behalf of the plant management team. Participates and reports financial performance and other ad-hoc business case analysis to the PTM. Manages the plant production costing process; prepares and reviews all new product costing requests (internal and external customers) with the plant management team. Performs special projects as directed by the Controller, Operations VP, and Director of Operations.
Reviews monthly closing responsibilities and related cost/analytical and auditing responsibilities.
Supports activities related to annual capital/operating budgets, labor standards, key initiative reporting, operations performance forecast, scorecard comments, capital project review and approval and Agri Stats analysis and review.

Minimum Education
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
Experience Requirements
5+ years related experience.
Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Solid oral and written communication skills.
Excel, Access and Word proficiency.
Must have manufacturing cost and process cost accounting experience.
Must be able to work in a plant environment including the ability to work with the local management team to understand the product flow within the facility, perform audit requirements in the plant, and understand risks related to the processing facility.
Experience Preferred
MBA, CPA or CMA
Poultry industry experience
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.
May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
When in a plant environment:
Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db. to 110 db.
May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
