Role And Responsibilities
Samsung is looking for an experienced, highly organized, detail-oriented attorney to support Samsung’s businesses on privacy compliance matters.
The role will report to the Head of Privacy and will work in an ongoing and collaborative way with all business units including business, legal, marketing, HR, and other teams in carrying out her or his responsibilities. The ideal candidate for this role must have deep substantive knowledge of online privacy issues as well as strong transactional skills.
Responsibilities
- Counsel and support Samsung businesses on privacy issues in connection with the development of products, platforms, services, and other initiatives involving the collection and use of consumer data, including business intelligence, advanced advertising, customer experience, and related business and technology initiatives;
- Work closely with business, technology, marketing, HR, legal, and corporate communications teams to establish relationships and deliver consistent, practical privacy guidance and support;
- Assist the NA Privacy office to implement privacy initiatives within Samsung’s businesses;
- Draft and negotiate data privacy provisions in a variety of agreements including contracts with suppliers and third parties;
- Track and advise on legal, regulatory, and policy developments relating to data collection and use, online privacy, healthcare, AI, children's privacy, biometrics, and related issues.
Skills And Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Law Degree and member of the US state bar in good standing;
- 4+ years total legal work experience, with at least three years at a large law firm or in-house advising on data privacy matters;
- Comprehensive understanding of U.S. federal and state data privacy and security laws (e.g., CPRA, COPPA, TCPA);
- Strong transactional background, drafting and negotiating commercial transactions and counseling clients with respect to privacy and information security issues;
- Solid knowledge of artificial intelligence and online advertising (e.g., use of cookies and cookie alternatives);
- Demonstrated analytical experience, including experience assessing risk from a privacy and data protection perspective;
- Ability to multitask and to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to formulate creative solutions to accomplish business objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as CIPP, CIPM;
- Experience with Biometrics, Children’s privacy, or Health data.
