Function/Duties of Position:

As a member of a team of Program Directors working closely with the Senior Department Administrator (SDA), the Program Director (PD) provides high-level management to the Institute on Development and Disabilities and Departments of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Center for Women's Health - Women's and Children's Services. Together with physician leaders, the PD helps shape the future of innovative teams to provide care for children and families across the entire state of Oregon.

Under the direction of the Senior Department Administrator (SDA), the PD works with department leadership to ensure operational alignment with the OHSU, Women's and Children's and Department Strategic Plans. The PD collaborates with the Department Chair and Divisional leadership to direct strategic planning, personnel management, budgeting and finance, professional practice issues, research programs, facilities, inventory and equipment, contract negotiation, and professional practice billing. In addition to the financial and operational aspects required of the position, the ideal PD has specific experience and interest in community building across individual divisions as well as across the Department of Pediatrics and larger OHSU community. The PD works closely with the Senior Director of Ambulatory Services, Director of Strategy and Outreach, and other directors and managers in Doernbecher Children's Hospital to ensure alignment of operational resources and objectives.

In this position, the PD has specific responsibilities for administrative leadership of multiple divisions in the Department of Pediatrics. Division level responsibilities include supporting all aspects of clinical operations including deployment of providers to clinics across the state and into WA. Overall division operational responsibilities include management of revenue cycle for professional services across the above listed units and support of Faculty NP/PA, research Faculty, Administrative Coordinators, and Research Assistants.

In addition, under the direction of the SDA, the PD takes part in the development and implementation of strategic and operational initiatives that will build upon collaborative approaches across all Women's and Children's Services. Each PD on the team has a unique set of skills and experiences that support various functions of the department. This PD ideally has skills and abilities to perform operational and action-oriented data analysis with the ability to build upon and advance the data dashboards that are used to evaluate and improve clinical operations. This position requires an individual who is highly self-motivated, creative, has strong project management skills, good business and finance skills, and commitment to providing a high level of customer service.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
• Minimum five years of experience directing and managing departmental operations in an academic and/or health care environment, including management of staff.
• Must have extensive experience in managing fiscal operations, including grants and contracts.
• Previous budgetary experience required.
• Ability to make independent decisions, analyze situations, solve complex problems, and initiate actions for the effective management of a large and complex department; demonstrated leadership and planning skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in software applications, specifically spreadsheet, word processing, and database applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Public Health Administration strongly preferred.
• Prior experience in a complex, multi-faceted academic medical center environment.
• Previous experience with professional practice issues.
