TRANSPORTATION MANAGER

Our team in Miami currently has an opening for a Transportation Manager

YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of mileage and hourly drivers, and Bulk/OTR Dispatcher.
  • Overall responsibility for Miami Drivers, Miami Bulk/Mini Bulk, and LTL Dispatching activities.
  • ADP Payroll, time off approvals/scheduling.
  • Intelex entry, MBWA/SBWA, Loss Occurrence, near misses, Training.
  • Pure Safety Training of new drivers.
  • Coordinate tank trailer washing when necessary.
  • Review driver logs and trip reports for accuracy and compliance.
  • Review Samsara videos and address when necessary.
  • Complete and maintain driver files for all Miami drivers.
  • Conduct driver road tests.
  • Monitor and assist drivers with maintaining required documentation and permits on fleet equipment and maintaining current driver physicals, Commercial Drivers Licenses (CDL’s) and required endorsements.
  • Responsible for ensuring all Federal and State Motor Carrier Safety regulations and requirements are understood and followed. Monitors and improves Motor Carrier Safety Rating in the areas of Driver, Vehicle and Hazmat ratings through training, corrective action, discipline, etc.
  • Perform appraisal reviews for all employees under direct supervision.
  • Check delivered tickets and tanker unloading reports for discrepancies.
  • Responsible for scheduling of deliveries by Hourly drivers and Commercial Carriers, where applicable.
  • Responsible for the pickup and delivery of BMS products to other Branches/Customers.
  • Responsible for the training of all employees in operating procedures in area of responsibility including training to make over the water deliveries to cruise ships/cargo ships.
  • Overall responsibility for area housekeeping.
  • Interface with customers, customer service and sales to resolve delivery or safety concerns with bulk or LTL deliveries.
  • Authority to requisition and approve all purchases in area of responsibility.
  • Monitor and control expenses related to fleet operation and maintenance.
  • Coordinates fleet maintenance and scheduling. Responsible for personnel actions relating to hiring, discipline, allocation, and training of Miami drivers and direct reports.

YOUR PROFILE

Education and Experience:

  • Skills commensurate with a college degree or equivalent.
  • Five to ten years dispatching/distribution experience, preferably in a chemical-related industry.
  • Thorough understanding of the importance of customer service and the ability to work cooperatively with customers, other Branches, departments, and personnel in meeting customer needs.
  • Ability to interface well with customers.
  • Computer skills to efficiently perform the job requirements.
  • Ability to understand and comply with all company policies and procedures pertinent to the operation of the Branch.
  • Ability to understand and comply with the responsibilities of the job as outlined in the Job description.
  • Ability to understand and carry out process descriptions applicable to the job.
  • Willingness to accept overtime and be subject to and available for call-in.
