POSITION PURPOSE
The HRBP is the operational and strategic liaison between Sunland's front-line leaders, and company goals. In addition to providing guidance and communicating within a densely populated business unit. This position will mentor other HRPBs and Generalists within the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Employee shall perform all duties and responsibilities with Sunland's Core Values at the forefront.

  • Willingness to communicate and respond to colleagues within 24 hours of an inquiry, via phone, e-mail, text, Teams and in person.
  • Maintain regular work hours, easy availability, and a dependable schedule to support HR colleagues.
  • Knowledgeable point-of-contact offering assistance, to colleagues and vendors as appropriate.
  • Confidentiality and discretion, even within the HR Dept. are non-negotiable.
  • Daily communication with the Director to keep them informed of monthly priorities and projects.
  • Daily communication with the HR Generalists on priorities for that day and week.
  • Work closely with department managers and leaders to understand their priorities and behaviors, and tailor organizational plans accordingly.
  • Communicate HR initiatives and programs to our managers and leaders, shepherding them through any process and assisting with team messaging.
  • Partner with talent acquisition and training and development on workforce planning, succession planning strategies and improving interviewing skills.
  • Present and accessible as possible; working primarily from the 7th St. office in Phoenix, AZ.
  • Learn the manager's meeting schedules and gain their buy-in to attend any that touch on Sunland's goals and communication strategy.
  • Assist hiring managers with employer / employee relations, acting as a consultant with an aim of favorably resolving issues.
  • Utilize the HR Dashboard and BI reports to help divisions analyze their specific metrics, trends, and employment issues.
  • Be familiar with the current edition of the Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain a basic knowledge of Sunland benefit plans (names of providers, types of plans, etc.)
  • Redirect general employee inquiries to the appropriate vertical - payroll, benefits, talent acquisition

Safety
  • This is considered a non-safety-sensitive position but is subject to the company's drug and alcohol policy, as well as all OHSA regulations.
  • All employees must wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • This position operates in a professional office environment that routinely uses standard office equipment requiring the ability to communicate in person and over the telephone with other employees, the ability to interpret printed materials and a computer screen, the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, the ability to lift and carry supplies and files weighing up to 10 pounds and to move about the inside of the office to access supplies, office machinery, etc.
  • May be required to work on a project site and if so, would be exposed to all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures.
  • Employee may be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, virus or other air-borne pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Work Experience
  • Five-seven years minimum of progressive and relevant HRBP experience
  • Attention to detail, accurate data collection and organization of work is essential.
  • Comfortable expressing oneself as an HR leader in the company of division leaders.
  • An ability to remain removed from routine HR concerns, without being off-putting.
  • Bilingual language fluency in speaking, reading, writing and comprehension is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency communicating in Spanish is very helpful but not required.
  • Previous work in a construction environment is helpful.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to use them - to answer questions, research issues, find documentation, provide feedback, and present information.
  • Service-oriented with both internal and external customers.
  • Have a working knowledgeable of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience resolving issues through quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Willing to examine recommendations for best practices and process improvements from the Generalists and other HRPBs.
  • Demonstrated success in a dynamic, frequently changing, and fast paced environment.
  • Team player able to work effectively in an independent setting.
  • Critical thinker who proactively anticipates problems and is solution oriented.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office Suite is necessary.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS
  • A valid driver's license and a clean motor-vehicle record preferred.
  • Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check is required.
