About the Job

Sandy Spring Bank is hiring for a Finance BI Analyst. Under some supervision, the Finance BI Analyst is responsible for the coordination, management and administration of the Financial Planning and Reporting system that supports the following: Responsibility Plan Variance, Organizational Profitability, External Regulatory, Investor and other Internal Management Reports. Creates and reconciles data and reports related to the financial plan and actual results. Works to maximize reporting and process efficiency throughout the Finance department. Responsible for design and maintenance of bank-wide financial reporting dashboards. Ensures that our systems follow industry-wide database management and generally accepted accounting principles. Responsible for the creation and ongoing development of critical reports used to support the Finance Department.

Ability to obtain data from multiple sources, perform analysis, and display in a Power BI dashboard that brings value to internal customers. Maintain in-depth knowledge of system codes and classifications, internal policy, strategic objectives, products and services, regulatory guidelines, and general banking.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Oversee and manage administration of various financial systems including Longview, Empyrean, Profit Stars, etc. Responsible for documentation of the system’s processes and requirements and actively administers the system. The analyst will also be a key liaison between Finance and IT for successful delivery of projects and will be accountable for operational support of financial systems. Will also develop, coordinate, and implement test plans for functional changes, bug fixes, enhancements, patches and upgrades to financial systems.

Develop, prepare, gather and analyze data from multiple sources for internal operation reporting using existing tools such as Excel, Business Intelligence Center (BIC), Salesforce, and our Data Lake. Ability to take data from multiple sources and display it in a Power BI dashboard in a meaningful way to the business.

Review of current Finance system processes and process/system improvement recommendations. Identifies more efficient alternatives to produce reports and integrate data. Partners with support departments to deliver accurate data in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsible for oversight of the production of timely, accurate and effective reports which support analytics for decision making and control reviews. Collaborates with other areas of Finance regarding routine work and ad hoc report requests. Develops and maintains bank-wide financial reporting dashboards through Power BI.

Ability to use data to illustrate business performance, risks, and opportunities for all levels of the company, from operational to executive level. Provide reports on operational performance and translate analytics into actionable presentations.

On an ongoing basis, collaborate with Credit Risk, Finance, Operations, IT, and other internal business functions to obtain quantitative and qualitative data and provide insight on business results. Effectively interact and communicate with varying levels of leadership across the bank.

Partner with business lines to provide requested data and reporting to internal and external examiners/auditors.

Thoroughly understand all bank systems and reports to avoid conflicting data or redundancy. Review all existing reporting to determine adequacy, accuracy, and necessity.


Required Skills

Minimum of 3 to 5 years of analytics/reporting experience in banking or a similar industry. Position requires a bachelor’s degree or higher in business, accounting, finance, data analytics, information systems, or related field.

Accounting and finance knowledge is required. Successful candidate should understand basics about a general ledger, the interaction between the balance sheet/income statement, and debit/credit relationships. Candidate expected to answer basic accounting questions during interview.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system experience is highly desired, particularly in systems such as Longview, SAP ERP, or Oracle ERP. Will be required to learn Longview Application Framework coding.

Hands-on skills in SQL, Business Objects, VBA, and proficiency working with large datasets are required. Power BI experience is highly desired.

Advanced Microsoft Excel (i.e., Pivot tables, macros, VLOOKUP, index/match, SUMIF) and PowerPoint skills are required.

Advanced problem solving skills to find solutions to problems that are technically complex and require collection, interpretation, and analysis of data from diverse sources are required. The ability to work independently to solve systems issues in a time critical environment and communicate effectively with system users is essential. Proven project management and executive presentation skills are preferred.

Interpersonal skills are needed in order to interact with staff and business line leaders of multiple divisions throughout the bank. Ability to travel to various worksites may be required.

SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements. Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions. Work will primarily be performed in an office setting, with remote work flexibility as needed.

Compensation Information

At Sandy Spring Bank, compensation is one part of our total rewards package. Compensation within the range will depend on your skills, qualifications, education, experience, and location. Additionally, full-time and part-time positions may be eligible to participate in department or company-wide incentive plans.


Salary Range

USD $82,300.00 - USD $133,075.00 /Yr.
