We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in the construction industry. This is a permanent position, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to our rapidly growing company. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in our financial operations, working closely with our accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in job costing, financial reporting, month-end close, advanced Excel, general ledger, account reconciliation, and financial analysis.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Accountant, your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Overseeing job costing and financial reporting processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with company and industry standards.
2. Performing monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts, coordination and completion of annual audits, and reviewing financial reports/support as necessary.
3. Developing and maintaining advanced Excel spreadsheets for data collection and analysis.
4. Managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, and capital assets reconciliations.
5. Providing detailed analyses and explanations of all transactions, preparing documentation for external auditors.
6. Collaborating with the financial management team to develop budgets, financial plans, and business strategies.
7. Reviewing and improving accounting and financial procedures and policies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
3. Extensive knowledge of job costing, financial reporting, month-end close, advanced Excel, general ledger, account reconciliation, and financial analysis.
4. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel.
5. Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7. Ability to work independently, manage large, complex projects, and meet deadlines.
8. Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is a plus.
