As the Importer of Record, Lumber yard, and Architectural Millwork House we have total quality control throughout the entire supply chain from the forest anywhere in the world all the way to your job site. With centuries of experience, we are a powerful supplier of both domestic and imported, exotic hardwood lumber such as Teak, Sapele, Genuine Mahogany, Black Walnut, and Ipe. J. Gibson McIlvain is more than just materials and with our comprehensive architectural millwork facility, we offer custom millwork services from interior trim and cabinetry to exterior siding, pergolas, and furniture.
Our ideal candidate has a great attitude, is friendly, eager to learn about our industry, and has prior success in a customer-facing role. This candidate should also have great attention to detail, exceptional communication skills and take initiative. They should have knowledge of hardwood species and the lumber industry, but it is not mandatory as long as the candidate is willing to learn and is coachable. An inside sales role can be a precursor to an outside sales position with a specific territory.

Job Responsibilities Include:
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with new and current clients
- Support an assigned outside sales team
- Respond to inbound calls and Web RFQ's from existing and new customers
- Take incoming customer service and sales related phone calls
- Make outbound sales and prospecting calls in support of Territory Managers
- Post sales orders to Epicor Lumber Track Software
- Call / Email customers with sales order and RFQ information
- Work closely with the Credit Manager to establish credit terms for new and existing customers
- Coordinate with Shipping Department and Lumber Mill to approve shipments based on credit terms with customers
- Work with the Credit Department in calling customers to discuss credit balances and to arrange payments and credit terms
- Prior experience in distribution, manufacturing, channel sales, building materials, lumber, millwork, decking and railing, construction, contracting, or outdoor living products very helpful but not required
- Bachelor's Degree in industry related field or related sales experience
- 2+ years inside sales experience is a plus, preferably in the lumber industry working with a software system like Epicor's Lumber Track
- Excellent math skills to determine measurements, board footage, lineal footage, and piece counts for accurate billing and data entry into software systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, primarily Word and Excel
- Computer skills with the ability to learn different software programs
- Ability to travel 25% of the time
- Open to the possibility of relocating to New England or Florida in the future
