The Opportunity

An Endoscopy Technician shall assist with the operational and clinical aspects of the unit. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, setting up equipment for endoscopic procedures and cleaning up after procedures; cleaning endoscopes according to policy, understanding the multiple steps in manual pre-cleaning and the automatic endoscope reprocessor; care and maintenance of endoscopic equipment; maintaining stock in procedure rooms and decontamination area, and assisting with putting stock away when delivered. Assist with other clerical functions to support the endoscopy unit.

  • Prepare and set up equipment, ensuring procedure rooms are maintained with necessary supplies
  • Clean rooms according to policies and procedures
  • Maintain endoscopic equipment; decontamination, high level disinfection, sterilization, and reprocessing in compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and standard of care
  • Maintain all areas of the endoscopy unit with supplies, in a clean and orderly manner, restocking as necessary
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Attend required meetings and in-services
  • Perform related work as required
  • Assist with quality improvement and infection control
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams including staff at all levels of the organization
  • Requires ability to work collaboratively with the clinical team including GI physicians, anesthetists, nurses, and all support staff
  • Ability to successfully negotiate and collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds, and levels within and external to the organization
  • Requires minimal direction from leadership and possesses the ability to learn quickly
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments; including set up for procedures, decontamination, high level disinfection, sterilization and reprocessing, according to policies and regulations
  • Ability to trouble shoot equipment, or contact appropriate equipment representative, if necessary
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, and state and federal regulations
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures within scope of practice

Hours: Monday - Friday 7:15 am to 3:45 pm

Qualifications

Qualifications:

* Education-High school diploma or GED

* Experience-1 to 2 years medical work experience preferred
