General Description
The Tax Analyst position is responsible for overseeing state and local tax research, registrations, filings (indirect taxes), and reconciliations. This position will ensure compliance with tax regulations, provide accurate data to operations, and handle various tax-related responsibilities. Also, this position requires expertise in tax analysis and attention to detail are essential in maintaining tax compliance and supporting the financial operations of the organization.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Research state and local payroll, gross receipts, excise taxes, and sales/use tax questions, including tax rates and filing requirements. Provide tax data to operations when requested, including tax rates for specific locations, tax obligations, allowable exemptions, etc. Register companies for state and local tax, including payroll withholding and unemployment, gross receipts and sales/use tax, business, and misc. other registrations.
- Prepare and file state and local gross receipts, excise taxes, and sales/use tax due.
- Prepare and file all property tax returns.
- Reconcile state and local tax liability accounts.
- Maintain annual state filing requirements.
- Review payroll tax returns quarterly filing, once received from UKG.
- Assist with payroll tax liability account reconciliations as needed.
- Resolve all indirect tax notices.
- Register entities with state Secretary of States.
- Ensure all annual reports are filed timely.
- Maintain an accurate list of all states each entity is in.
- Assist Choggiung Limited (parent) with the following as requested:
- Tracking of state income tax filing and notices for all Bristol Alliance Companies
- Process quarterly state estimated tax payments and return extensions.
- Assist with preparation of 1099s and W2s.
- Respond to audits (DOL, Income, indirect tax, payroll, etc.) as needed.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere through effective interactions and communications.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Ability to prioritize and organize, work well under stress, meet deadlines.
- Ability to work flexible hours, as required to meet deadlines.

- Skilled in interpersonal communication.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- BA/BBA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Mathematics, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in corporate tax is required. A combination of experience and education may be considered in replacement of year of experience.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Experience in government contracting, the construction industry and a multi-company environment is preferred.
- Experience with Alaska Native Corporations and knowledge of the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) program is preferred.
- Experience in government contracting is preferred.

- Evaluate the effectiveness of state and local tax research.
- Monitor compliance with tax filing requirements and deadlines.
- Assess the accuracy of tax rates, obligations, exemptions, and related information provided to operations.
- Efficient State and Local Tax Registrations and Filings (30%):
- Assess the timeliness and accuracy of registering companies of various state and local taxes.
- Evaluate the preparation and filing of gross receipts, excise taxes, sales/use taxes, and property tax returns.
- Monitor the reconciliation of state and local tax liability accounts.
- Evaluate the adherence to annual state filing requirements, such as annual reports.
- Monitor the accuracy and timeliness of filing all necessary state tax forms and documents.
- Effective Audit Response and Support (20%):
- Assess the responsiveness and accuracy in handling various audits, including those related to DOL, income tax, indirect tax, and payroll.
- Monitor the ability to provide requested documentation and information during audits.
- Exceptional customer service and teamwork (10%).
- Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner (10%).
