Infant Development Specialist

Job Summary:
Provide global developmental evaluations and therapeutic interventions to pediatric inpatients and outpatients, and their caregivers.
- Direct Patient Care (60% of time spent in billable patient care activities) :
- Select and accurately interpret formal and informal measures to assess patient's overall developmental skills, as well as attachment relationships and caregivers' understanding of their child's needs and development.
- Maximize global development with focus on cognitive and social-emotional functioning of hospitalized children from birth to three years old with complex medical conditions
- Develop and implement safe, meaningful and effective treatment plans based on clinical assessment; utilize relationship-based interventions appropriate to developmental level, with consideration of medical status, regulatory, sensory, and behavioral needs.
- Engage caregivers in providing developmentally supportive care in preparation for successful discharge home, utilizing infant mental health informed practices
- Provide center based developmental therapy through the Illinois Early Intervention program
- Collaborative interdisciplinary teaming (including medical team) regarding patient care
- Timely documentation required for regulatory and organizational compliance
- Opportunities for program development, education and training, and student supervision
What we need from you:
- MA, MS in Education or M.Ed.; Early Childhood or Special Education required
- Professional Early Intervention or 0-3 experience required; hospital experience preferred
- Illinois State EI Credential, or eligibility for same, required - familiarity with Illinois' Early Intervention system and EI evaluators preferred
- Cultural competency training preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with reflective practice preferred
- Bilingual preferred (Spanish and English)
- CPR required: Only certifications issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross will be accepted.
