The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an approved SkillBridge Program under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. The program is an opportunity for transitioning service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through an internship during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days.

During this program you will be on-site at a Northrop location performing an internship in an entry to mid-level career type role. You’ll have on-the-job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. This program is specifically designed to offer internships that result in the high potential to transition to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work with interdisciplinary teams on research, design, and development for advanced digital designs and subsystems.
  • Support the design and implementation of digital FPGA designs, including Firmware architecture and DSP algorithms.
  • Collaborate with design leadership and systems, verification, software, hardware teams to design and implement digital subsystem solutions.
  • Review designs and analysis, create subsystem requirement specifications and manage change during development process.
  • Proven ability to drive complex technical problems to closure, meet schedule and budget, may lead a team.
  • Provide direction and oversight to internal and external design teams developing processor subsystems and components.
  • Design and model specific aspects of advanced digital subsystems.
  • Driven mindset fostering continuous learning, applying and driving improvement in internal engineering processes and flow.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Digital Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of software engineering experience, or 3 years of experience with a Master's degree, or 0 years with a PhD. An additional 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Development and optimization experience in at least one of the following: Embedded Microprocessors, FPGA, Microelectronic Modules or Digital Signal Processing Algorithms.
  • Experience in FPGA design with VHDL, AMD/Xilinx or Intel/Altera devices and EDA tools like Vivado, Questa, Quartus.
  • Ability to be cleared to special access programs.

  • Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of software engineering experience, or 7 years of experience with a Master's degree, or 4 years with a PhD. An additional 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Development and optimization experience in at least one of the following: Embedded Microprocessors, FPGA, Microelectronic Modules or Digital Signal Processing Algorithms.
  • Experience in FPGA design with VHDL, AMD/Xilinx or Intel/Altera devices and EDA tools like Vivado, Questa, Quartus.
  • Ability to be cleared to special access programs.

Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600
Salary Range 2: $127,000 - $190,600
