This Bookstore Supervisor Job Is for You, If You Enjoy:
Assisting the Manager in managing team members and the daily operation of our stores and providing an amazing customer service experience to our customers.
Your Team is counting on you as a Bookstore Supervisor to:
- Work any shift any day of the week, including weekends & holidays.
- Work a full-time schedule.
- Provide staff training and conduct store opening/closing/shift change procedures.
- Perform all cash register preparation, float verifications, spot checks, verification of end-of-shift cash reconciliations, void processing, and deposits.
- Ensure that money is secured at all times.
- Conduct daily counts and report any discrepancies.
- Ensure staff report to work on time, dressed in clean full uniform, including nametags.
- Report all staff tardiness and absences to management.
- Ensure customers are greeted promptly and served by knowledgeable, well-trained associates.
- Demonstrate effective management of customer queuing.
- Assign daily duties to sales associates and inform them of daily sales targets and procedural changes.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of bookstore products sold and ensure replenishment and proper rotation of stock on the sales floor.
- Maintain housekeeping standards (i.e., dusting, replacement of burnt light bulbs, sweeping, mopping).
- Maintain vigilance against theft and shoplifting and enforce cash register and other policies controlling internal shrink.
- Pull and process book returns (identify appropriate titles using inventory system reports) – manage inventory flow.
- Organize store displays and sections, ensuring proper placement and organization of all titles. Merchandise store to focus on key titles and maximize sales potential.
- Ensure accuracy of the inventory management system through accurate receiving, returns, file transfers, and routine cycle counts. Supervise processes.
- Ensure booksellers accomplish daily and weekly tasks outlined in bookseller basics.
- Assist in ordering books and other bookstore merchandise – ensure store selection closely reflects needs and desires of the local customer base.
- Assist in maintaining sidelines stockroom and replenish sidelines stock as needed.
Bookstore Supervisor Required Qualifications:
- One or more years of retail supervisory experience.
- Previous bookstore supervisory experience.
- Ability to manage, consult, and help plan daily activities with General Manager, Bookstore Manager, and other Bookstore Supervisors.
- Provide supervision and support to store staff.
- Approachable and interactive leadership qualities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good time-management skills and multi-tasking abilities.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift 40lbs.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
