Job Summary:
Will need to organize and manage the flow of goods and materials from suppliers to consumers. They work with a variety of internal and external organizations and people, including retail stores, manufacturers, and transportation companies. The main responsibility is to ensure that orders are delivered accurately on time and to the correct location.
Scope of job:
Coordinates daily logistics and supply chain operations to meet delivery requirements, including inventory control, order fulfillment, and distribution. Reviews shipping documents, such as shipment notices, packing slips and invoices, to set daily, weekly, and monthly priorities and determine appropriate shipping methods. Organizes warehouse workflow, plans inbound and outbound shipments, and ensures inventory accuracy and adjustments are completed correctly. Acts as a liaison between internal customers, freight carriers, and the Shipping/Receiving Department, ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders. Resolve logistics issues to ensure timely delivery and control costs by evaluating and consolidating shipments for efficiency.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Plan, schedule, analyze and oversee the shipping and receiving of products to meet customer requirements. Coordinate and monitor supply chain operations, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Prepare and maintain all shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and export/import documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Oversee staff to ensure that all inbound and outbound shipments are processed, maintain high inventory accuracy, and outbound orders are processed promptly.
  • Work with customs brokers and agents to facilitate smooth international shipments and adhere to international trade regulations.
  • Negotiate with carriers to secure the best rates and services. Develop and maintain relationships with shipping providers.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and inventory teams to ensure accurate tracking of products in transit and proper receiving procedures are completed.
  • Address and resolve shipping issues such as delays, damages, or discrepancies to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and control shipping costs, optimizing processes to reduce expenses while maintaining quality.
  • Track shipments from departure to arrival, providing regular updates and reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all shipping and receiving activities comply with company policies, safety standards, and legal requirements.
  • Utilize logistic IT systems to enhance shipping and transport procedures.
  • Recruit and coordinate logistic internal and external staff, including truck drivers, based on availability and operational needs.
  • Oversee the stocking of raw materials and equipment to meet production needs.
  • Mediate between internal customers, freight carriers, suppliers, and the Shipping/Receiving Departments to ensure effective communication and external customer satisfaction.
  • Evaluate shipments, consolidate loads, and select the most cost-efficient methods of shipment.
  • Prepare accurate reports for upper management regarding shipping activities and key performance indicators.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Proven experience in shipping coordination or logistics management.
  • Strong understanding of shipping documentation, customs regulations, and international trade.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and experience with carrier management.
  • Proficiency in logistic IT systems and software.
  • Strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in cost management and optimizing shipping processes.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
Education, Experience, and/or Certifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Logistics, or similar.
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Logistics Professional) are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate via email, chat, video call, over the phone, and face-to-face.
  • Travel required up to 20% of the time.
