WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING (ESSENTIAL DUTIES) ...

Under the supervision of the Director of Mission Advancement and the Vice President of Philanthropy, the Community Relations Manager is responsible for year-round cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategy to engage all current donors and prospects, with the key focus on building relationships that will result in increasing the portfolio with substantially more donors who give $1,000 or more annually. The vital work of the Community Relations Manager advances the organization's reputation across the state by building new and cultivating existing community partnerships.

Essential Duties:

  • Seek and embrace opportunities to represent Newport Mental Health on a local and regional level with professionalism.
  • Coordinate community events on behalf of the organization to ensure materials, sponsorship fees, registrations, and volunteers are prepared.
  • Attend, alongside the Director of Mission Advancement and/or VP of Philanthropy, or as an ambassador of Newport Mental Health, community outreach programs and events to promote and educate on organizational services and goals.
  • Build and execute targeted community awareness campaigns and develop strong donor relationships.
  • Nurture donor relationships and solicit gifts and contributions.
  • Develop relationships in a portfolio of 400 existing donors in ways that have a quantifiable impact on philanthropic revenue and results in growing the portfolio substantially in number of donors as well as size of individual gifts and event sponsorships.
  • Keep accurate records of all donor contact (contact reports) and tracking of donations in Raiser's Edge NXT donor management system.
  • Build strong internal relationships and engage in productive and collaborative conversations that range from executives to administrators to clinicians.
  • Collaborate with NMH's Marketing & Communications Manager, as well as other colleagues and Philanthropy Teammates, to develop timelines and systems that promote efficient and effective distribution of fundraising materials through print, digital, and social channels.

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU...

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Social Entrepreneurship
  • Three (3) or more years of related work experience, and a demonstrated track record in successfully managing a major gift portfolio
  • A strong working knowledge of healthcare, or associated industries is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills as well as strong public speaking and presentation skills with the ability to listen actively; a flexible writing style with an ability to tailor content to the audience and channel is required.
  • Candidates should demonstrate strong quantitative skills and an ability to grasp company economics.
  • A track record of commitment to professional development and evidence-based work is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively to manage multiple projects at once under tight deadlines with successful outcomes.
  • Ability to cultivate strong interpersonal donor and coworker relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge NXT strongly preferred; willingness to learn and utilize this donor management system is essential to this role.
  • Knowledge of healthcare, or associated industries, is appreciated.
