Job Requirements / Description

Today, older adults are waiting longer to move into senior living communities. Yet, the longer they wait, the more likely they are to have multiple chronic conditions and decreased mobility. Most senior living communities are not equipped with the medical care infrastructure and staffing that higher acuity settings are designed to deliver.

That's where Troupe comes in — a complete care delivery solution designed for senior living communities that extends the reach and impact of primary care providers and caregivers. We offer clinical services complemented by a fully-integrated care coordination and communication platform, so residents get the connected and familiar care they deserve.

About the Job

As our Lead Software Engineer , you will be the first full-time engineer hire at Troupe Health. You will lead the technical design and development of clinical workflow, analytics, interoperability and AI projects that enable Troupe Health's clinicians and staff of senior living communities to seamlessly collaborate to improve resident and family experience, and drive improved outcomes at lower cost.

This position offers a unique opportunity to shape Troupe's technology and product strategy, directly develop and architect our technical solutions, laying a solid foundation for our products and future team. You will be hands-on in building a world-class Engineering function, tailored to support rapid scaling and the complexities of delivering a better future for residents of senior living communities.

What you'll do:

  • You will partner with the Head of Product to develop and refine product strategy and roadmap. You will participate in discovery meetings and develop an in-depth understanding of Troupe's business and clinical and operational workflows.
  • Armed with crucial subject matter expertise and context, you will make key decisions about technical architecture and implementation. You will own the development of our tech stack, collaborating with the Head of Product on build-vs-buy decisions and making architectural improvements as we scale.
  • Discover and recommend ways Troupe can use AI and other cutting edge technologies to drive concrete improvements in clinical and business outcomes.
  • You will define engineering processes and execution strategy that will enable you to effectively oversee, guide and grow a team of outsourced (near-shore) engineers and future FTE hires.
  • You will lead the development and implementation of new products and product features focusing on care delivery, care coordination and behavioral health services for residents of senior living communities, delivering reliable and compliant software.
  • Manage the Troupe data model, building data interoperability, generating key insights, and iterating on reports and dashboards for clinical and ops users.

What you'll need:

  • 3+ years of software development experience building responsive web applications for healthcare technology companies or technology-enabled healthcare service providers, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a 0-1 startup product environment.
  • 2+ years building EHR and provider documentation or care management solutions, or 2+ years of experience building technology solutions for senior living communities.
  • Successful track record of delivering and maintaining reliable, scalable, traceable and performant distributed systems to customers in a production cloud environment leveraging AWS. You are willing to own DevOps.
  • Experience with Agile development, problem-oriented roadmaps, and a track record of successful collaboration with Product Management.

What you'll bring to the table:

  • You have technical hands-to-keyboard coding experience with newer technologies including React.js (Frontend), Express.js (Backend), PostgreSQL (Database), AWS and Typescript
  • You have experience owning tech design & architecture in a 0 to 1 environment
  • You are flexible, collaborative and comfortable with ambiguity. You are able to both make decisions with limited information and to ask for clarification when needed.
  • You believe in iterative product development and understand that validated learnings can be just as valuable as well-received first iterations.
  • You enjoy working with operators, clinicians, end-users, and executives to understand the business context and objectives that inform your work.

Who you are:

  • Manages Ambiguity : Deals comfortably with the uncertainty of change. Effectively handles risk. Can decide and act without having the total picture. Is calm, and productive, even when things are up in the air. Deals constructively with problems that do not have clear solutions or outcomes.
