Location: Durham, 3 days per week onsite
Role Overview:
The (Senior) Director of Software Engineering will drive technological innovation in the biotech space, leading a team of engineers to develop advanced software solutions that support the company's mission. This role requires a visionary leader with strong technical expertise and strategic thinking to bridge software development and biotechnology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the software engineering team.
  • Develop software strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Oversee software design, development, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software with biotech processes.
  • Ensure software quality, reliability, and scalability.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Design and implement data management infrastructure.
  • Oversee Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) development.
  • Lead DevOps initiatives and optimize AWS cloud environment.
  • Coordinate with IT for seamless software integration.
  • Implement data visualization tools for actionable insights.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field; Master's preferred.
  • 10+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years in leadership.
  • Strong background in software architecture and design patterns.
  • Experience in biotech industry required.
  • Proficiency in Python, AWS, and cloud architecture.
  • Excellent communication and team management skills.
  • Experience in data management infrastructure, LIMS, DevOps, and IT operations.
