**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
**Job Specialty:** Ortho Neuro Surgical (ONS)
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 12 Hour Nights
**Guaranteed Hours:** 48 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required
**License:** Registered Nurse - Board of Nursing Approval
**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
**Must-Have:**
- Comfortability with Intermediate Care acuity, Telemetry, and MedSurg assignments
- Previous experience with the specified patient types and stepdown acuity
- Ability to interpret cardiac strips, manage chest tubes, trach care, NGT tubes, PICC/Midline/CVL/PIV placements, wound vacs, wound care, medication administration, TPN/tube feeding, blood product transfusions
- Drip titration experience with medications including Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed, and occasionally esmolol drips
**Job Description:**
- Work in a mixed acuity unit handling Intermediate Care, Telemetry, and MedSurg patients
- Care for surgical patients including urology, general abdominal surgeries, orthopedics, and neuro/spine procedures
- Manage general medical patients with conditions like cellulitis, COVID, pneumonia, renal and hepatic failure, gastrointestinal disorders, and more
- Provide post-operative care for neuro-intervention patients, with preferred experience in spinal surgeries and neuro cases
- Collaborate in a team structure with two RNs and one Nurse Aide per pod
- Work under the support of charge nurses, flex nurses, and other medical staff
- Utilize Epic charting system with prior experience preferred
- Complete a structured orientation program, including unit-specific training and professional development
- Participate in a flexible scheduling system, with potential weekend and holiday rotations
- Maintain compliance with monthly audit requirements for pre/post-pain scoring
