Job Overview

In the capacity of CDO, you will serve as a critical partner to the President & CEO, offering leadership, management, and strategic direction. Your role will be pivotal in empowering and energizing the team tasked with raising crucial funds necessary for life-changing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Leadership & Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the CEO and fellow executives to establish strategic goals that resonate with the organization’s mission of delivering compassionate services. Promote a collaborative atmosphere among the Executive Team to achieve unified objectives.
  2. Fundraising Strategy & Execution: Invest time in nurturing significant relationships with partners, donors, and volunteers. Formulate and implement strategies to cultivate donor relationships across all levels by empowering Development Officers.
  3. Fund Development: Spearhead the organization’s fundraising strategies, continually enhancing initiatives by discovering new sources of revenue and expanding existing ones.
  4. Building an Effective Team: As a servant leader, recruit, develop, and inspire a dedicated Development Team. Encourage engagement, professional advancement, and teamwork among members.
  5. Board of Directors Engagement: Act as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors concerning Development issues. Regularly update the Board on progress and gather insights from relevant Development Committees.

Required Skills

  1. A genuine commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
  2. A passion for assisting New Yorkers in overcoming homelessness and marginalization, with a focus on inspiring hope and transformation through service.
  3. Solid understanding of fundraising methodologies and experience in cultivating relationships with major donors and corporate partners.
  4. Proficiency with CRM software (such as Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or equivalent).
  5. Proven ability to lead comprehensive fundraising programs and achieve targeted financial objectives.
  6. A history of guiding organizational change and fostering effective teams with integrity.
  7. A strong ability to analyze data and performance metrics.

Qualifications

  1. A heartfelt dedication to the organization’s mission.
  2. A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related discipline; an MBA is preferred.
  3. At least 10 years of senior fundraising experience, demonstrating success in leading teams at an executive level.
