Responsibilities

Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent in Indianapolis is seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist to join our established practice. Our ideal candidate must be proficient in performing bone marrow aspirate/biopsies, lumbar puncture with administration of IT chemotherapy.

Peyton Manning Children's Hospital is part of Indiana's largest not-for-profit health system with 22 ministries and over 3000 physicians. Features include an attached tertiary care pediatric hospital with 40 private inpatient beds and 8 short stay beds, staffed in-house 24/7 by our Pediatric Hospitalist group; a 23-bed PICU staffed 24/7 by Pediatric Intensivists; a 17-bed Pediatric Emergency department staffed 24/7 by Pediatric Emergency physicians; and Indiana's largest Level IV NICU with 97 beds staffed 24/7 by Neonatologists.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Coordinate discharge planning with case management.
  • Recommend and participate in efforts to improve cost-effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
  • Accept patient referrals from other physicians and act as admitting, attending, and/or consulting physician for hospitalized patients.
  • Participate in academic programs (e.g., medical education and research) as requested.
  • Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
  • Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on-call schedules.

Requirements

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred.

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
