Summary:

Classification Summary: Responsible for coordinating campus student activities, including special events, student organizations, publications, and student government activities. Reports to the Director of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs.

Classification Standard Duties: Serve as an active member of the Student Involvement and Leadership Programs team, assisting with campus-wide traditions programming. Responsible for advising department-sponsored, recognized NMSU student organizations and supporting, planning, and implementing events related to the advisor’s specific area and SILP as a whole.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency:
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Required Experience: Three (3) years of experience related to student affairs, counseling, or a related field.
Equivalency: Associate’s degree plus five (5) years of related work experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge: Student development experience with student engagement and success. Understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job. Skills: Skills in planning, problem analysis, report preparation, and communication. Experience in advising programs and managing program development, budgeting, and assessment. Abilities: Ability to maintain effective working relationships, organize activities, and use independent judgment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as the primary adviser to The Round Up (student-run newspaper) and KRUX (student-run radio station). Meet regularly with student leaders to provide guidance and ensure compliance with policies. Attend staff meetings, student retreats, and provide training related to student development and leadership. Travel with students to conferences related to print media and radio. Ensure Student Media remains within projected budgets. Serve on university, division, and unit committees. Other duties as assigned.
