THE OPPORTUNITY
As the primary organizational learning leader, the Director, Learning & Development is responsible for the design, delivery, monitoring, and measurement of organizational learning with the goals of increasing individual, departmental, and college-wide effectiveness. The Director collaborates with Human Resources and division leaders/managers to develop strategies that enhance individual contributor, management, and leadership skills, increasing performance and organizational effectiveness.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Partners with Vice President, Human Resources in assessing organizational capabilities and performance enhancement opportunities.
- Determines priorities, allocation of assignments, defines goals, leads, directs, and provides coaching to the Learning & Development team.
- Coordinates with managers in assessing current performance data or creating needs assessment to identify learning needs of employees.
- As primary manager of the engagement survey, coordinates with managers, champions, President’s Council members, and others in planning the annual survey. In addition, is responsible for communicating, developing, disbursing, receiving, analyzing, and reporting on survey data.
- Makes recommendations as to appropriate learning methodology for identified opportunities.
- Develops and delivers core training and development programs and recommends external training courses supporting learning goals.
- Conducts internal program evaluations which link learning programs and outcomes.
- Works with division managers, or other leaders to map optimal performance, diagnose performance issues, and conduct gap analysis developing new capabilities while assessing the effective utilization of resources.
- Designs, leads, and implements initiatives supporting organizational change strategies.
- Coordinates the talent assessment and succession planning processes.
- Identifies Best Practice initiatives in alignment with the college’s strategy and workforce management goals.
- In collaboration with other Human Resources managers, designs and facilitates new employee orientation and onboarding programs.
- Makes recommendations as well as develops and manages the learning and development budget.
- As requested, compiles reports related to program effectiveness and metrics for Vice President, Human Resources.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 10 years of increasingly responsible experience in an Organizational Development/Organizational Effectiveness managerial role designing comprehensive learning and development strategies and plans; and at least 5 years of experience successfully managing staff and a budget.
- Ability to oversee, coordinate, and manage the work of the members of the Learning and Development Team.
- Ability to provide appropriate and timely consultation to managers regarding workforce performance management and organizational effectiveness strategies and tactics.
- Prior successful experience in the development and implementation of leadership development programs.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to establish credibility and confidence with stakeholders.
- Excellent internal coaching and consultation skills.
- Exceptional collaboration skills, and the ability to be effective engaging with all levels within the college.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and/or supervision.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to translate goals into innovative knowledge acquisition solutions.
- Strong project management skills.
- Exceptional HR technology and computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK
Requires work onsite a minimum of 2 days a week; the on-campus requirement is subject to modification based on organizational need.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE
- Master’s Degree in Organizational Development preferred.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems preferred.
