Job Description
About The Group + Scope
This vertical is NFS IT; National Facilities Services IT
They are a KP s Southern California Regional Group; They support the NFS portion/slice of the pie of Capital Projects -- Fontana, Moreno Valley, Ontario, Riverside, San Bernardino, South Bay, and West Los Angeles Medical Center Service Areas.
- Construction is a multi-billion bucket, and that budget is an umbrella that will take it from a dirt lot to an operating facility
- Construction Management comes to these different swim lanes within NFS with the project scope and has them essentially bid it out this is what it ll cost, this is our timeline, etc.
- Once approved, they re on that project and responsible to meet those figures. PMs are there to ensure accuracy and completion. They will work alongside the other swim lanes and their actual hands on folks as the work happens in tandem i.e. Construction has completed framing for the ceiling and is getting ready to install panels, NFS-IT NEEDS to get cables and wiring ran through before Construction closes it up. So IT PM needs to be well aligned to the Construction PM so they know their time tables and then organizing getting the technicians or whoever is pulling cable available and on project at the right time.
- While at surface level their work may seem easy, oh you set up the phones and plug in the computers to meet timelines and be cost effective there are a lot of moving pieces where a blended understanding of IT, construction and Project Management are the recipe to success.
- Other swim lanes include scopes outside of Construction & IT such as procurement (for actual equipment, furniture, dcor, etc. in the scheme of things when the big capital funded Construction Budget goes out for a facility, NFS-IT sees a fraction of the total spend on stand-up.
- Groups split their time 75%/25% with 75% being dedicated to the above projects and getting IT up and running in tandem with construction. The 25% is what they call LCOM Life Cycle Optimization Management.
- This group does NOT do any of the actual execution they do not pull wires, they do not install new phones, etc. they are the IT PMs that are ensuring the IT work is happening in tandem with the construction work at the right times, and tapping on the shoulders/pulling in the groups needed to execute this is where people skills and presence becomes huge for his hiring as unlike more trad PMs that only report up and deal with direct group, his PMs have to reach out and pull resources from helpdesk, from technician groups, etc. which is more visible and has to be done very polished
- Seeking 2-5 years (okay if more) of aligned IT PM experience
- This group heavily interfaces with Construction and Facilities groups within the organization; experience aligned/with Construction is ideal
- Healthcare experiences -- translates well into their world for ramp-up; not a hard stop but we should prioritize talent with HC
- High level of IT system understanding, does not need to be a SME in any specific IT Technology, understanding how everything interacts is key. MS Office Suite, MS Project Online
- Experience with Hospital Operations, Cabling, Network (WAN/LAN/WLAN), NetTel, Telco, Routers, PC/Desktop, Server/Apps, A/V,
- (Preferred) PMP Not required but group has called out affinity in the past; highlight if we can
- Device Deployment Experience is a buzzword + focal point they ve highlighted
- Completes work assignments by applying up-to-date knowledge in subject area to meet deadlines; following procedures and policies, and applying data and resources to support projects or initiatives; collaborating with others, often cross-functionally, to solve business problems; supporting the completion of priorities, deadlines, and expectations; communicating progress and information; identifying and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities when possible; and escalating issues or risks as appropriate.
- Pursues self-development and effective relationships with others by sharing resources, information, and knowledge with coworkers and customers; listening, responding to, and seeking performance feedback; acknowledging strengths and weaknesses; assessing and responding to the needs of others; and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback.
