What is the Director of Recruitment & Retention Role?
As the Director of Recruitment & Retention, you will act as Brooke's talent strategist and recruiter for lead teacher and staff roles across Brooke's four schools. You will also lead retention efforts throughout our network. Alongside hiring managers and network leadership, you will set and track progress toward recruitment and retention goals. You will use data to drive results in recruiting the highest and most diverse caliber of candidates to Brooke as well as create measures to support their retention at Brooke. You will support hiring managers and spearhead refinement of interview guidelines, evaluation tools, and talent assessment procedures as necessary. You will also actively source candidates at recruiting events, implementing a job-board strategy and advertising initiatives, and stewarding partnerships with like-minded organizations.
Cultivation and Recruitment
- Cultivate the highest quality candidates who demonstrate interest in Brooke
- Build relationships with key connectors at talent partner organizations to drive opportunities for Brooke to build our brand and connection within high quality talent pools
- Identify and attend recruitment events within high potential talent pools and new/untapped markets.
- Manage and execute logistics, marketing and programming for all Brooke-sponsored recruitment events.
- Set monthly cultivation conversation goals as well as candidate interview goals
- Create and maintain Referral tracking system.
- Assess potential candidate fit with the Brooke mission and core values.
- Ensure every candidate walks away from their initial interview with a clear understanding of the Brooke mission, values, and what they can expect to be exciting and hard about working at Brooke.
- Support School Leaders with ensuring that candidates are moving quickly through our hiring process.
- Support high-impact retention strategies to retain 85%+ of Brooke employees
- Conduct 30, 60, 90 day touchpoints with new to Brooke staff
- Direct and execute New to Brooke network convenings
- Create and execute exit surveys
- Devise a novice teacher mentorship program to launch in the second year of this role
- Write yearly Recruitment Retention Report

Salaries are based on years of previous experience and the starting salary for this role is$96k.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 5-7 years of full-time work experience; Recruiting experience, K-12 experience, and/or teaching experience are all pluses.
- Strong project management skills and are exceptionally organized
- Proficiency with Excel, Google Workspace, and recruitment software (experience with Greenhouse or ADP platform is a plus)
