DESCRIPTION

JVS SoCal is looking for a knowledgeable, experienced, and dependable Recruitment & Onboarding Specialist to join our People & Culture team. The Specialist will have a strong sense of urgency to support high-volume recruiting and onboarding. The Specialist is responsible for the full cycle recruiting and onboarding for JVS SoCal including but not limited to developing enticing job announcements, improving recruitment aspects of the HRIS system (Paylocity), assisting with sourcing, identifying, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding prospective employees. The successful candidate will work closely with the VP, People & Culture to develop and implement strategic initiatives for acquiring diverse talent and will serve as an ambassador for JVS SoCal’s vision, goals, mission, and overall values. This position reports to the Vice President of People and Culture and qualifies for a hybrid schedule when possible. The ideal schedule allows for two work-from-home days and three days on site. Sites and schedule will vary depending on priorities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the full cycle recruiting process to meet the various staffing goals across all levels within multiple programs and departments.
  • Ensures that staffing needs are met with a long-term strategy in mind.
  • Assists with the weekly headcount meetings and process for accuracy.
  • Forms close working relationships with hiring managers to ensure clear expectations for candidates and interviewers.
  • Ensures hiring managers provide appropriate onboarding documents for all positions.
  • Develops and posts job announcements on all internal and external job boards and works with supervisor and the marketing and communications team on any additional hiring strategies.
  • Reviews resumes to ensure proper experience, education, qualifications, and minimum requirements are met.
  • Conducts phone screenings as needed with applicants for all open JVS, AJCC and Veterans positions.
  • Creates interview guides for all open positions and provides guidance to hiring managers on best practices and compliance aspects of the recruitment process.
  • Works and supports hiring managers to schedule interviews and ensures that the hiring process is moving forward as quickly as possible.
  • Makes all verbal and written job offers.
  • Runs background checks and processes all reference checks on all applicants.
  • Coordinates the onboarding process once the offer has been made and accepted and the applicant has passed the pre-employment screenings.
  • Processes incoming recruitment-related invoices in preparation for payment by our finance team.
  • Tracks and reports key metrics designed to measure and predict staffing activity.

While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must be able to do the following: stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; bend and reach for filing and other job-related functions; climb up and down stairs; bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull, push, and lift; reach both above and below shoulder height. Specific visual abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to visually inspect work. Manual dexterity to operate computer and other office equipment required. Will be required to visit multiple offices regularly including but not limited to Lancaster, Palmdale, El Monte, Culver City, Glendale, Santa Clarita, Chatsworth. Mileage reimbursement policy applies.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field is strongly preferred.
  • 5 to 7 years of recruiting or related experience is required; preferably recruiting for organizations in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors.
  • Experience working on development of recruiting strategies and related projects, a huge plus!
  • Excellent organizational, communication (both written and verbal), and time management skills are required.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, a high level of professionalism.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving mentality required.
  • A positive “can do” work style.
  • A high-level organization and attention to detail is an absolute must!
  • Must have in-depth knowledge and understanding of full cycle recruitment process and have experience acquiring talent for an exempt and non-exempt workforce.
  • Must be familiar with California background check laws, and related policies/procedures.

Experience working with ATS/HRIS/recruitment platforms and reporting capabilities required; Paylocity ATS experience is strongly preferred.
