Summary: The primary purpose of an IT Business Analyst is to bridge the gap between the business needs and the technical solutions of an organization. This role involves understanding business processes, identifying areas for improvement, and designing technology-based solutions to enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall business performance. The IT Business Analyst works closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze business processes, and translate these needs into detailed technical specifications for the development team.

This exempt position will report to the CIO in the Division of Information Technology. It is based in our Chicago office and is a hybrid role: 3 days per week in the office/2 days per week remote.

Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with the Scrum team to prioritize the product backlog and create user stories that clearly convey business needs and acceptance criteria.
  2. Identify requirements to determine project goals and schedule via industry standard analysis techniques such as data flow modeling, workflow analysis, and functional decomposition analysis. Solicit requirements through interviews, workshops, and/or existing systems documentation or procedures.
  3. Identify and implement project management policies and lead multiple small and large software/Web application development projects from conceptualization to launch by defining project's objectives, documenting scope of work, acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members in order to deliver projects according to plan.
  4. Work closely with the divisions in the definition, testing, training, implementation and support of functional requirements.
  5. Identify strengths and weaknesses of existing systems and develop plans for improvements.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred, but not required.
  2. At least 2-4 years' experience being a product owner and developing solutions for mission critical business applications is preferred.
  3. SQL programming, SCRUM, and Agile experience are required.
  4. Experience in Aptify software (or similar association management systems) a plus.
  5. SCRUM Certification a plus.
  6. Experience using business processing tools (examples - Visio, Lucidcharts, Jira, JAMA).
  7. Experience with Crystal Reports and BI reporting tools a plus.
  8. Experience with HTML, Javascript, Python and other programming/scripting tools a plus.
  9. Proficient with all MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
  10. Strong communication skills, including facilitation.
  11. Ability to plan and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
