QSA Global, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Physical Scientist / Radiochemist to join our team focused on expanding medical applications of radioisotopes. We are specifically looking to grow our footprint in medical applications including radiopharmaceuticals and brachytherapy, drawing on decades of experience in radioisotope technology, design, and manufacturing. The skilled and ambitious physical scientist/radiochemist will play a key role in this dynamic growth initiative.
Current projects for which the candidate can make an immediate contribution include:
- Beta radiation based ophthalmic brachytherapy devices
- Ra-226 based processes supporting Ac-225 production for targeted alpha therapy R&D
- Ra-226 targetry for accelerator-based production of Ac-225
- Radioisotope materials and process development for a variety of applications
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with highly experienced chemists, physicists, and engineers to develop a deep understanding of QSA Global’s radioisotope technologies to become an in-house subject matter expert (SME). As SME, the candidate will initiate and support sustaining and growth initiatives with a primary focus on new product development (NPD).
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on new product development, emphasizing innovative and highly differentiated radioisotope applications for medical, pharmaceutical, and industrial uses.
- Design, execute, and oversee verification and validation experiments, analyzing data to assess feasibility and contribute to value proposition evaluations in our NPD process.
- Translate complex scientific concepts into practical applications, demonstrating an ability to innovate, and 'reduce to practice' theoretical ideas in a commercial context.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, contribute to peer-reviewed manuscripts, create and manage intellectual property documentation, and participate in conference presentations.
- Uphold laboratory standards by assisting in the training, development, and mentoring of staff, and maintaining rigorous laboratory procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Doctoral (PhD) degree in chemistry, radiochemistry, materials science, physics, or a related field, or a master's level degree in a related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Proven laboratory expertise in radioactive product development or manufacturing, radiochemistry, including radiochemical separations and chemical synthesis.
- Demonstrated skill in experimental design and implementation.
- Preferred practical experience with equipment in isolated environments like gloveboxes or hot cells and radiological safety.
- Effective collaboration in multidisciplinary teams, spanning R&D, production, RA/QA, and engineering design.
- An entrepreneurial mindset, ready to engage in innovative approaches and think creatively to overcome challenges and seize opportunities.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to present at all levels within the organization and with customers.
