Job Summary:
Client is seeking an experienced and talented Industrial Designer / Design Engineer to join a global design team.
This role involves collaboration with mechanical engineers, manufacturing experts, product line managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality, market-ready designs that uphold our brand’s integrity, meet customer needs, and adhere to technical standards.
The Design Engineer will support the design efforts for a diverse range of products, including connectors, adaptors, testing devices, fiber housings, wireless terminals, splice cassettes, and associated tools, accessories, and packaging.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the conceptualization and iterative development of innovative fiber optic hardware solutions for all market segments.
  • Create 3D models and prototypes that demonstrate functionality and/or appearance.
  • Engage in fieldwork to gather insights and improve designs.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and design reviews, contributing ideas and feedback to the global design team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of design intent with project objectives and business goals.
  • Prepare detailed design documentation and presentation materials.
  • Train, educate, and advise on industry best practices for Visual Language, Design Thinking, and UX/UI.
  • Execute packaging and label graphics that meet current standards.
Required Qualifications:
  • Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of product development experience.
Skills for Success:
  • Strong communication skills to clearly convey design intent through written, drawn, and verbal direction to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (experience with CREO is preferred).
  • Innovative problem-solving skills, with the ability to challenge the status quo.
  • Good to strong digital sketching and visual communication skills.
  • Expert-level proficiency in KeyShot and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles.
  • High standards for detail and craftsmanship.
  • Dynamic in collaborative environments, capable of delivering constructive feedback diplomatically.
  • Curiosity about how and why things work, with a willingness to experiment.
  • Ability to execute within an established visual brand language across a broad portfolio.
  • Effective organizational skills, with the capability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Interest in sustainability, AI, generative design, and cutting-edge design tools.
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/A).
  • Advanced understanding of human factors and ergonomics.
  • Additional experience or training in UX is a plus.
Work Environment:
  • Office conditions with regular computer and phone usage.
  • Light physical effort, including frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials.
  • Infrequent visits to manufacturing facilities, labs, and fieldwork, where personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
