The University of Alaska Southeast, located in Juneau, AK, is seeking an energetic, entrepreneurial, and strategic thinker to join the newly named Office of Advancement. While this position is termed at three years, a successful candidate will have an opportunity to grow into a permanent position with a team that is forward-thinking and dedicated to a donor-centric approach. Under the guidance of Chancellor Aparna Palmer, the University of Alaska Southeast is dedicated to creating a destination workplace and a world-class university.

This position, in close coordination with the Executive Director of Advancement, serves as a major gift officer for the University of Alaska Southeast Office of Advancement. This gift officer plays an important lead role in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment and requires the ability to think strategically, multi-task, and demonstrate a high level of professionalism at all times. As a fundraiser, this individual will not only interact with internal development/university colleagues and the UA Foundation, but will also seek to build and maintain relationships with UAS alumni, friends, and donors. Starting salary is commensurate, with a range of $80,000-100,000.00.

The University of Alaska Southeast spans three campuses: Sitka, Ketchikan, and the main campus in Juneau located on majestic Auke Lake.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of 3 years of successful fundraising or relevant skills is required.
  2. Experience working with marketing and public relations staff at upper-level management.
  3. Strong strategic-thinking skills.
  4. Experience working with database-i.e., Raiser's Edge.
  5. Ability to direct a moderately complex unit involving multiple operations, projects, and programs.
  6. An unrestricted Alaska driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required.
  7. Sufficient exposure to higher education to understand the urban university's mission, environment, and operating requirements.
  8. Willingness to attend educational training two times a year for nationally recognized institutions or organizations that further philanthropic endeavors.
  9. Possess or willingness to earn the CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) rating within 1 year from start date.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska Southeast campus in Juneau. This is a full-time, term-funded exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and a full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 82, based on education and experience.
