Overview

Our client has developed a groundbreaking technology platform that integrates the properties of advanced materials with the capabilities of silicon photonics, aimed at driving a transformative leap in AI workload efficiency.

They seek an experienced technical leader with a deep background in silicon photonics (Si Pho). This person’s objective will be to drive the end-to-end design, architecture, and optimization of new silicon photonic hardware – from blank concept to commercialization.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in cross-functional collaboration to integrate Si Pho hardware into platforms, as well as experience leading partnerships with manufacturing teams.

This role requires a hands-on leader with an innovative mindset eager to challenge conventional thinking and develop cutting-edge products to advance Si Pho technology and transform markets.

Responsibilities

  • Design: Design active and passive silicon photonic (Si Pho) components using standard software tools.
  • Simulation and Optimization: Perform thorough simulations to analyze device performance and optimize designs.
  • Characterization and test: Contribute to the development of test protocols and characterization.
  • Hardware design: Engage in high-level hardware design activities, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Fabrication: Collaborate with process owners and manufacturing partners to ensure successful manufacturability.
  • R&D: Stay updated on the latest advancements in silicon photonics (Si Pho), and related technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree - Masters or Ph.D. (preferred) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in silicon photonics (Si Pho) from concept and architecture to tape-out and packaging.
  • Strong understanding of silicon photonics (Si Pho) principles, including waveguides, modulators, detectors, and passive components.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design tools (ex. Lumerical, Ansys tools like Virtuoso), software development, and simulation, using languages such as Python, C++, or similar.
  • Excellent communication with a proven ability to cooperate effectively and efficiently with cross-functional teams.
