Overview:
The Essex Resort & Spa is seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee all aspects of the resort's operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and the financial success of the property. As General Manager, you will lead a talented team in a collaborative and service-driven environment, embodying the resort’s commitment to luxury, culinary excellence, and wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor and inspire a diverse team across all departments, including hospitality, culinary, spa, housekeeping, sales, accounting, human resources and maintenance. Foster a positive and motivated workplace culture focused on guest satisfaction, employee development and operational efficiency.
- Guest Experience: Maintain and enhance the resort’s reputation for delivering exceptional guest experiences. Implement guest service strategies, monitor feedback and ensure the highest level of hospitality and personalized service across all areas of the resort.
- Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations, including front desk, reservations, food and beverage, housekeeping, spa and events. Ensure that all departments function seamlessly and are aligned with the resort’s service standards and brand values.
- Financial Management: Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting and revenue management. Develop strategies to optimize profitability while maintaining high-quality guest services. Monitor financial reports, control expenses and ensure adherence to financial goals.
- Sales & Marketing: Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to drive occupancy, increase brand visibility and create unique guest offerings. Lead the development of innovative packages, events and promotions to attract a diverse clientele, including leisure, corporate and group travelers.
- Culinary & Spa Excellence: Collaborate with the culinary and spa teams to maintain the resort’s high standards in its renowned culinary and wellness offerings. Ensure that The Essex continues to be recognized as a premier destination for dining and spa services.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure the property complies with all local, state and federal regulations, including health and safety standards. Oversee maintenance of the physical property and manage relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure the resort is always in pristine condition.
- Community Engagement: Represent the resort within the local community and build strong relationships with local businesses, tourism organizations and government agencies. Act as an ambassador for The Essex, supporting local initiatives and maintaining the resort's reputation as a community leader.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in a luxury hotel, resort or hospitality environment.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting and revenue management.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire large, diverse teams across multiple departments.
- Exceptional guest service skills with a passion for delivering personalized, memorable experiences.
- Experience in luxury food and beverage operations and spa management is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with guests, staff and community stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Knowledge of hospitality management software and systems.
Work Environment:
The General Manager will spend time across all areas of the resort, including guest-facing and back-of-house operations. This role requires a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and evenings to meet the demands of a 24/7 luxury resort environment.
