About the role

CBRE is seeking an experienced smart building professional, with a proven background in understanding business requirements, hands-on experience in managing the end-to-end solutions for acquiring and analyzing building data, and for acting upon insights derived from the analysis.

As a CBRE Program Director, you will assist with the management of teams who are responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of projects and programs. The Smart Building Strategy Director is responsible for overall leadership within a Fortune 100 global financial services client account to achieve the company's strategic smart building aspirations. This role will focus on creating a strategy for delivering the client smart building program, which will be rolled out to a distributed portfolio globally, focusing on innovating new Smart Building and Secure IoT/OT solutions for facilities management, sustainability, and space utilization to improve building operational efficiency.

This job is part of the Program Management function, responsible for the creation and delivery of strategic programs representing major company initiatives.

This is not a remote role; the selected Smart Building Strategist is required to have the ability to work from the client’s New York City office location.

What you’ll do

  1. Create a high-level strategic plan to achieve desired client outcomes and use cases, including methodology for rollout of smart devices, networks, and IT backbone for data communication.
  2. Develop smart building business cases and proposals to provide client decision makers with metrics and ratios for approval of smart building functionality.
  3. Manage smart building rollout program with program management team, coordinating projects at client portfolio locations.
  4. Synchronize smart building activities across diverse, global CBRE and client teams.
  5. Engage smart building vendors and contractors to procure devices, software, and consulting support.
  6. Coordinate with client security architecture team to review and approve all vendor software and devices.
  7. Manage change within CBRE team and client organization to action smart building insights.
  8. Report progress of smart building program and implement action plans to correct variances.
  9. Launch successful smart building facility management program for ongoing analysis of smart building data.
  10. Document processes for smart building program to facilitate rollout of future capabilities.
  11. Participate in civic and business organizations, maintaining relationships with industry and trade associates.
  12. Provide formal supervision to employees, monitor training and development of staff, and conduct performance evaluations.
  13. Serve as a point of contact for clients and escalation points for staffing or delivery issues.
  14. Train staff and assist with the development of processes to support client requests.
  15. Oversee cross-functional projects and programs from end to end.
  16. Manage internal, external and vendor relationships in support of the program.

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 8-12 years of proven experience in smart building design, deployment, or management.
  • Extensive understanding of modern building management systems and market landscape.
  • Strong understanding of building operations, facilities management, and smart building technologies.
  • Leadership skills to set, manage and achieve targets.
  • Outstanding presentation skills with the ability to convey information to various collaborators.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Expert interpersonal skills and a sophisticated inquisitive mindset.
  • Ability to work from the client’s New York City office regularly.

The minimum salary for the Smart Building Strategist position is $150,000 annually and the maximum salary is $190,000 annually, depending on the candidate’s skills and experience.
