Position Purpose

Tasks
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping.
  • Supervise or assist with providing support to the International logistics team members.
  • Ensure policies or procedures for International logistics services are being followed.
  • Lead team operations to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy, or timeliness objectives.
  • Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues.
  • Review the International logistics activities to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies.
  • Negotiate transportation rates or services.
  • Establish or monitor specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems.
  • Participate in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, or performance evaluation.
  • Oversee import or export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements.
  • Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures.
  • Assist with implementation of improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes.
  • Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency.
  • Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, or training or safety records.
  • Implement specific customer requirements, such as internal reporting or customized transportation metrics.
  • Negotiate with suppliers or customers to improve supply chain efficiency or sustainability.
  • Communicate freight transportation information to customers or suppliers, using transportation management system to improve efficiency, speed, or quality of transportation services.
  • Train department team members in roles or responsibilities regarding global logistics strategies.
  • Design models for use in evaluating logistics programs or services.

Education and Experience
Years of Experience: 4-6 Years of International Freight Forwarding experience
Education: Industry related degree and/or certification
Knowledge
Transportation Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.
Customer and Personal Service Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Administration and Management Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Production and Processing Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Public Safety and Security Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
Personnel and Human Resources Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
Computers and Electronics Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
Education and Training Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
