JOB DESCRIPTION

TMZ is seeking a Manager, Post Production to join our team. The ideal candidate must be extremely organized, with a passion for process and operations and a specific knowledge of the technical aspects of video and audio delivery. Must be detail oriented, adept at multitasking, and a clear communicator. Individual will need to manage urgent deadlines, track many moving pieces and liaise between many departments. This position reports to the Supervising Post Producers and is based in Playa Vista, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure post schedules align with graphics, broadcast, IT, Web Edit, Clearance & Promo departments to provide coverage and support for completing projects on deadline.
  • Identify areas where post production can improve and collaborate with the IT department to implement these changes.
  • Develop junior talent with a keen eye towards increasing diversity and inclusion efforts.
  • Ability to multi-clip media, build a project from scratch, export sequences, and ingest media from the drive/card to the server.
  • OMF, AAF, media management.
  • Develop and document reference guides for Post workflows on new projects.
  • Anticipate and prevent complications during production and post and independently resolve conflict, cost concerns, scheduling changes, delivery issues and other post challenges.
  • Remain current on industry technology (e.g. editing software, camera packages, dailies work flow, sound formats, color science) and exchange information.
  • Transcribe descriptions of logged footage.
  • Edit with Adobe Premiere Pro while using editorial sense, judgment and direction.
  • Work with DP, Broadcast and Production to establish consistent field guide specs and standards.
  • Coordinate project archive schedule.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience working at a commensurate level in post production operations.
  • Experience working within a post production environment that utilizes a MAM and/or other playout applications.
  • Must be proficient in Adobe Premiere.
  • Extensive experience managing post production processes, including but not limited to: network deliverables, dailies, editorial, color correction, visual effects, compositing, graphics, titling, sound editorial and mixing, localization, digital media, final QC, etc.
  • Extensive experience with new and emerging post production techniques, remote services, evolving broadcast mechanisms, streaming platforms, and other distribution outlets.
  • Experience with or a basic understanding of media asset management software is needed (cataloging, adding metadata, logging, folder structure organization).
  • Experience with the full Adobe Creative Suite (beyond Premiere) would be preferred.
  • Must be able to export and upload current edits for distribution.
  • Strong understanding of video formats and equipment is required.
  • Strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and manage time effectively, are required.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $84,500.00-118,500.00 annually. We provide Freelancers medical/dental/vision insurance and 401k after they meet eligibility criteria and any State required time-off, in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
