Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and driven Head Cook to lead our kitchen, crafting innovative dishes and managing day-to-day culinary operations. Key Responsibilities:
- Kitchen Leadership: Manage all aspects of kitchen operations, including daily menu execution, ingredient sourcing, and seasonal adjustments.
- Culinary Innovation: Develop and maintain an evolving menu of share plates that reflects the restaurant’s commitment to creativity, sustainability, and seasonal flavors.
- Team Management: Oversee and mentor kitchen staff, ensuring they are motivated, trained, and aligned with WEST10WEST’s high standards.
- Quality Control: Ensure every dish meets the restaurant’s expectations for taste, presentation, and timing, maintaining consistency during service.
- Inventory & Cost Management: Manage ingredient sourcing, ordering, and stock control, balancing quality with cost-efficiency. Work closely with ownership to maintain desired food cost margins.
- Hygiene & Safety: Maintain compliance with NYC health and safety regulations, upholding strict kitchen cleanliness and food handling standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the restaurant owner and front-of-house team to ensure smooth communication and alignment between kitchen operations and guest service.
- Guest-Focused: Foster a warm and welcoming environment, occasionally interacting with guests to explain dishes or receive feedback.
Qualifications :
- Proven experience as a Head Cook, Sous Chef, or equivalent leadership role in a high-paced, fine dining or innovative culinary setting.
- Strong background in seasonal cooking, ingredient sourcing, and menu development.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a team effectively.
- Proficient in managing kitchen operations, including food costing, inventory control, and kitchen staff scheduling.
- Understanding of NYC health and safety standards and best practices.
