From strategy to execution, the Government & Public Sector (GPS) practice of Ernst & Young LLP provides a full range of consulting and audit services to help our Federal, State, Local and Education clients implement new ideas to help achieve their mission outcomes.

Our GPS Technology Organization is a structure within the US GPS practice that implements and maintains a new operate and technology model designed specifically to support U.S. defense and Government engagements.

As a Senior Desktop Engineer, you’ll be in a highly skilled senior role with the industry leading technical expertise to support one or more Product Managers. You’ll have a deep end to end understanding of all technical aspects of the service and be the key integration point with other products/services. As the Senior Desktop Engineer for GPS, you’ll be responsible to ensure we’re delivering a best-in-class desktop solution to this service line.

Your key responsibilities

  • Bridging service components on premise and cloud, and across vendors
  • Managing the technical dependencies across the different products and services
  • Implementing long-term product roadmaps, by working closely with the GCC Desktop Technical Lead
  • Providing on call support for major service outage resolutions
  • Actively maintaining technical skills and expertise while having an intimate understanding of vendor product roadmaps
  • Directing and owning technical resolution of overall vulnerabilities and risks for the products
  • Travel to support change or planned project activities

  • Strong verbal and written skills including strong cross-cultural communication and the ability to draft effective communications

  • Utilizes all aspects of Emotional Intelligence to navigate the interactions and complexities of the business environment and drive leadership performance in oneself and in others
  • Brings proven industry leading technical expertise of the product(s)
  • Good understanding of the financial aspects of the product(s)
  • Detailed understanding of Windows installation and configuration items
  • Advanced programming/scripting skills in vbscript and PowerShell
  • Experience troubleshooting and creating scripted installers (MSI, MSIX, Wise, InstallShield, PowerShell Studio)
  • Create tools to be used for custom deployment scenarios
  • Develop and manage the Packaging template
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow and incident, problem, and change management processes and procedures
  • A high degree of knowledge and experience with cloud based Windows management tools (Intune)
  • Knowledge of modern OS deployment methodologies
  • Fundamental understanding of network concepts
  • History of managing and configuring desktop security tools and settings
  • Understanding of driver and firmware management techniques
  • Generalized understanding of Azure AD, and MS cloud offerings
  • Background in the use, management and creation of both application and machine virtualization products

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Ideally a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, or relevant experience
  • A certification, trade school degrees, or a solid work history will be considered if such a degree has not been obtained
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Desktop Management Field
  • Industry technical certification for the relevant product(s) are required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Past experience working within professional services or large matrix organizations

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $83,600 to $156,200. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.
