Position Overview

The Director of IT will lead the Firm’s technological strategy and execution, ensuring the technology infrastructure aligns with the business goals. The Director of IT will oversee all technology and technology partners and will play a critical role in shaping the Firm’s long-term strategy, and drive innovation and scale across all technical aspects of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technology Strategy Development:
    • Develop and execute the Firm’s technology vision and strategy to support the overall business objectives.
    • Identify emerging technology trends and ensure the Firm is positioned to leverage advancements for competitive advantage.
  • Product Management & Innovation:
    • Ensure the efficient, secure, and scalable implementation of new products, features, and updates.
    • Drive innovation by researching new products and features to enhance our product offerings.
  • Technology Management of Acquisitions:
    • Lead IT due diligence for potential acquisitions.
    • Oversee the integration of acquired companies' technology infrastructure with Avior's systems.
    • Develop and execute technology integration plans to ensure seamless transitions.
  • Technology Infrastructure Management:
    • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the firm's IT infrastructure.
    • Ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of IT systems to support the firm’s operations.
    • Manage network administration, data centers, cloud services, and telecommunications.
  • Budgeting and Resource Management:
    • Manage the annual technology budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
    • Negotiate contracts, manage vendor performance, and ensure cost-effective procurement of technology services and hardware.
    • Evaluate and select vendors that align with the firm’s strategic goals.
  • Risk Management and Compliance:
    • Develop, implement, and enforce IT policies, procedures and governance practices.
    • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, including data protection and privacy laws.
    • Regularly review and update IT policies to reflect changes in technology, regulation and business requirements.
    • Mitigate risks associated with technology and cybersecurity threats.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with leadership to ensure technology initiatives meet business requirements and objectives.
    • Communicate the technology strategy to stakeholders, staff, and technology vendors and partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field; a Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM) is preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in IT management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of technology trends, system architecture and infrastructure management.
  • Experience leading teams in a high-growth and fast-paced environment.
  • Extensive experience in managing IT infrastructure, server administration, and cybersecurity.
  • Proven experience in technology management during mergers and acquisitions.
  • Proven ability to align technology strategy with business goals.
  • Strong knowledge of IT governance, vendor management, and software licensing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
